Gently turn the air screw inward until it LIGHTLY seats. Now back it out one and one half turns. That is the factory setting.

Hi, Todd and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Float needle and seat sticking.
5. Float level too low.
6. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
7. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
8. Air/fuel mixture screw set too lean.
9. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
10. Slow fuel jet clogged.
11. Faulty fuel pump.
Good luck and have a nice day.

Turn the screw all the way in snug clockwise then 3/4 turn counterclockwise. Then stop. You should be ready to start the motor.

High Idle when we get the 70cc ATV running

Pilot jet may be t o small or your air screw isn't adjusted right try turning the air screw in all the way then turn out 1full turn test and adjust until it runs good if that doesn't fix it the pilot jet will need to be cleaned or brought up one size hope this will help you good luck

Can anyone tell me the location of idle adjustment screw on 1990 4-runner v-6

If it's fuel injected, look on top of throttle body for a large screw that accepts a flat blade screwdriver. adjust by turning screw out slightly to increase RPM's;in to decrease. Unlike a carb stop screw, it's a jet controlling flow of air @ idle.

Idle is too high on 1990 4-runner v-6

Before you start messing with idle screw check for vacuum leaks and fresh air intake hoses, remember MAF sensor is close to air filter so inspect those hoses with a light to found any rips.

I have a Tomos a35 Sprint and I put a 70cc cylinder jug on it, a techno circuit pipe and I have a new carb. I up jetted it to a #58 and it starts only when the choke is down, once I take the choke off it...

You need to adjust the idle 1st.Main jet #58 is just for wide open throttle. Start by turning air screw all the way in "gently" till it stops, and back it out 1 and a half turns. Back out idle screw until slide is closed " not touching slide" . Turn until just contacts slide plus 1 full turn in opening slide. Start it up with the choke on and turn the air screw slowly in or out and slowly move the choke off till you can get it to run with the choke off. Than adjust idle screw " the one that moves the slide up and down to set the RPM. If you cant get her to idle with the choke off and the carb is air tight on the intake manifold. Carb might be to big. If you can get her to idle but it runs ruff I will try to help you tune the carb further. Good luck.

Idle adjustment screw for 95 merc Sable 3.0

I will try to explain new electronic injection. There is an adjustment but you have another problem if the idle speed is too high.

When the RPM goes higher, it means you have an air leak, intake runner problem or higher fuel pressure than the stock setting. Or ISC (idle speed control solenoid) Think of it like opening the throttle slightly and letting more air into the motor or gas into the engine.

You can use a pump spray bottle of water with the engine running and mist the seams and vacuum lines and switches. A change in RPM indicates a leak.

Intake runner. These are like shutters inside the intake manifold. Modern intakes can have 2 levels of airflow separated by the intake runners. Sticking runners can let more air into the engine at the wrong time and affect idle.

ISC solenoid Is a valve that regulates airflow for the idle. Soot can cause it to stick in the wrong position. Removing and cleaning the port with WD40 can help.

High fuel pressure. If the fuel regulator sends more gas to the engine, the RPM will increase.

There is a set screw at the base of the airhorn to stop the throttle cable. It is called a throttle stop. There is a hex hole for an allen wrench and it has been coated with threadlock in some instances. Really it is not meant to be turned once the factory sets it. But you can do it. If anything fixes the defects I mentioned, the idle may be too low. I do not have the Specs or know if you have any optional engine. Generally the engines idle between 525-and 600 rpm.

Please rate my info.

Who said the swap would work? If it was the dealers shop mechanic then it may work. Anyone else and I would be doubtfull.
The old Yamaha 125 / 175 could swap. The key is the stroke length. You are changing the bore, no big deal. BUT if the stroke is different the swap will not work.

Check with the dealers parts department. Look at the engine specs of the 49cc and the 70cc. If the stroke is the same, then it MAY work. A few unknowns are present. Ignoring the unknowns, did you use new cylinder base and head gaskets? New carb and manifold gaskets? Where is the 70cc carb and manifold? You have 42% more gas/air mix needed but a carb designed for 42% less than now needed. If nothing else, the engine may be starving for fuel. Granted the carb may have the 70cc capacity, but the only way to tell is by compairing the part numbers at the dealers.

One last thought. If the engine is a two stroke, how good are the crank seals? You are increasing the bottom end pressure by the swap. How much pressure is getting past the seals? Lower than needed pressure = no go.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!
