  1. Undo the screws on the plastic fairings, and then pull them off. They are stuck in with some tabs but should pull off easy when you undo the screws.
  2. Use an allen key to take off the 2 other screws on each side of the seat.
  3. You now should be able to see the battery now but need to get the cover off. Theres one screw in the middle towards the back that you need to take off. Pull the fuses off gently to get them out of your way.
  4. Now you should be able to get to the battery.

Pull back on the seat to remove it from the plastic hinges to take off the seat. It feels stuck at first.

The black panels on each side of the seat come off, then the blots that hold the seat.

Typically, motorcycle batteries are found under the seat. Check your owners manual for specifics. Your tool kit should have everything you need to remove the seat.

Battery dead need to remove or replace..... first i have to get to it

First remove the seat...then the grab rail...then remove the right seat panel...that's 1 screw under the right rear, 1 under the side of the grab rail, 1 on top under the seat and 1 near the airbox side covers.
Then remove the battery retainer bracket...that's got 1 bolt on the left holding it in, then swing it out and unhook it on the right.
Next remove the rectangular rubber bung in the plastic cover at the rear of the fuel tank under the seat revealing the + terminal of the battery. Disconnect this and the - terminal and the battery slides out.

How do you get access to battery on 2006 kawasaki zx14

You heed to remove the front seat and fuel tank cover. The access cover for the battery is on the right side of the bike just beneath the fuel tank cover. There are 5 - 8mm bolts that must be removed to access the battery. Some people leave the top 8 mm bolt out when re-assembling so your dont have to remove the fuel tank cover next time.

How do I take the seat off to charge the battery?

Take off the side panels, I believe 2 screws each, then pop off the "buttons" that hold them in. On each side, there's a screw for the seat. Remove them, slide the seat back, and you have access to the battery.

Remove seat

On an '89, remove both side covers and you will see a bolt on both sides of the bike just under the seat. Remove the bolts, lift the back of the seat and slide toward the rear of the bike.
