The little pin is probably a needle from a needle bearing. The gearbox uses two needle bearings. The connecting rod big end also uses a needle bearing. The starter motor drive gear uses two needle bearings and the balancer assembly uses one needle bearing. No matter what you do, the engine has to come out of the frame and gets torn down. Sorry to tell you the bad news, this ain't gonna be cheap to fix.

Could you take a moment and rate my answer? Thanks!

Engine knocking i reved up the motor a loud pop sound came from under the hood now the motor will only turn a little bit even by hand before locking up tight. any ideas?

From your descripion you may have spun a rod bearing. I haven't really seen any timing chains break persay. You usually hear a rattling sound coming from the front of the motor but you can still rev it up.
It sounds to me like you might want to clean out a pan large enough to drain the engine oil in. Drain the oil and look for small metalic flakes. If you see any, it's time to call some salvage yards and shop for a low milage motor(less than 100,000 miles) If you are lucky, you might stumble upon one with 50,000 miles or so. It's probably the motor though. If the chain broke, the upper end of the engine is going to be scrap metal anyway because the valves would have hit the pistons and bent..It would still be cheaper to replace the motor with a used one. Good luck

Vtr1000 clutch problem

do you mean the clutch wont allow you to engauge 1st gear from neutral ? if so then clutch plates are stuck together , try warming up engine first then get a friend to push you while engine running in neutral and pop into 2nd ( without clutch ) and ride round for a while then pull clutch in ( at fair speed to keep rolling ) and stamp on the rear brake , mite take several attemps , and this should free the plates ! Check gear oil for signs of water also , but this can happen if bike stood for several months ! hope this helped ? P...

While driving on the highway yesterday, my son's 2003 dodge durango over heated, the temperature gauge on the dashboard was not reading hot, we noticed a ticking sound from the engine, so I ask my son...

is the engine turning over? if not, then you may have expansion of the pistons which have lock them selfs in the bore of the cylinders and because you found the oil diluted with water you may have failed bearings, you may also have had water leak into the cylinder because of a blown head gasket creating a hydraulic lock. in this case remove spark plugs and try cranking engine if any water was traped it will come true the plug holes. Now if the engine is turning over when you try to crank the you may have blown head gasket and posibly a warp or cracked cylinder head. Seeing that you all had a faulty temp gauge or sending unit, that engine may have to be remove and torn down to find the extent of damage done. remove head first check for cracks, flatness and preasure test it.

When driving down the highway at 60mph or faster, with the haed lights on. We roll down the drivers window, the hatch light comes on the fuel guage goes to empty causing the fuel light to come on and the...

sounds like your hatch lock is not adjusted tight enough. My guess is your computer sees the hatch open and shuts down the fuel pump. find the locking bar where the hatch lock engages the van body, loosen the screws and push it in--hold in while you tighten screws. Sorry, I would send a picture but I don't have a manual for your car. If this doesn't work, you might need to adjust the switch in the door so it stick out more and gets pushed further by the hatch when closed.

Locked down motor

Unfortunately it sounds like you threw a connecting rod in other words a blown motor. The connecting rod has become disconnected from the crankshft and is jammed up between the case and the crank itself, the engine must be dissasembled and rebiult.

Mate! doesn't sound good on the the bike front. The parts for your bike are pretty cheap and easy to get.Its great to read a description of the problem that is real and accurate. It sounds like the bottom end has done a bearing. At the least its the bottom of the conrod. When riding home you would have been very easy on the bike. The problem would have still been there but the throttle may have slowed it and dulled the sound.Great of you to get it home. Now the bike is home, what is it doing? If not a lot.Remember, oil is cheaper than metal.
