When I engage the starter I loose all eletrical power

When I turn the key I get all my lights ok ,but when I engage the starter I hear a "electrical "sound and I loose all power. Its like I have no battery power. I have a full 12 volts at the battery. It was suggested to by a new battery or a battery tender. Also check for loos wire connections. I have a 2006 Harley 1200C.
This is my first bike and I would like to get more riding time.

There IS Positively a loose connection. What you are experiencing is a draw situation, when you require low amperage everything works normally, when you require high amperage (As when using the starter) it creates a draw higher than the connection can handle. Remove the seat and side covers and while trying to crank the engine carefully look at all the connections to see one that is hot or smoking. Good Luck.

My 1996 Toyota Vienta won't turnover with the key in ignition. Plenty of electrical power, air con runs as does the lights. Fitted with an immobilizer, wondered if that might have something to do

Check wiring to your starter make sure all the wires are secure. Its mainly sounds like you need a new starter. If you hear it clicking it is likely engaging just not spinning

Hi Anonymous, and the usual suspects are:
1.Ignition/Light Key Switch not in IGNITION position.

2002 hyundai Santa fe will not start. I turn key and starter turned for 3 seconds then stopped and now when i turn key NOTHING. I hear a circuit sound in back of car when i turn key but no other sound. ...

Definitely a starting system problem. That sound you hear in the back is the fuel pump.

Starting system circuit components (besides wiring harness)
1. Ignition Key Switch - closes the starter relay control circuit to energize the relay and close the contacts inside the relay (you can check this by locating the relay in the underhood fuse/relay box and have a friend turn the key while you listen/feel if the relay 'clicks'
2. Starter Relay or its Contacts
3. Starter Solenoid - pushes/pulls the starter gear into the engine's flywheel ring-gear and its contacts close to provide battery power to the starter itself.
4. Starter itself - poor brush contact with the armature's commutator will prevent the starter to spin/turn

If you are 'Electrically' talented, you can check to see if you're getting battery power to the starter solenoid by using a simple 12 volt test light/bulb. Connect one lead to the starter solenoid terminal and the other to chassis/engine ground and have a buddy turn the ignition key - if the light turns 'ON', then you know that particular circuit is OK but the starter solenoid is not energizing to push the starter gear into the flywheel ring-gear to turn the engine over. If it doesn't, the problem is elsewhere (wiring, starter relay, starter relay control circuit, etc).

You can have a qualified Hyundai Service Technician properly diagnose your vehicle. OR, you can Go to www.hmaservice.com and register your vehicle by VIN #.. you'll then have access to wiring diagrams, shop manuals, service bulletins, illustrations, etc.

Water in electrics fuses ok but nothing no dash no lights no start ??

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Faulty starter button/switch.
6. Faulty jiffy stand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
7. Security alarm needs a reset.
8. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
9. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

Cannot start tahoe after loose battery cable messed with the elecric system .Is there a reset switch for this year 2001 LT .All power is on and working I just have no responce to the starter when I turn...

The cable is still too loose for enough electricity to flow to start the starter. When you turn the key to starter the lights in the dash will go out and then when released the lights will go back on again as if everything is fine. Check connections sand them down and tighten them up if you haven't already to make the electricity flow better and i like to give them a shot of WD40 on top of that (its supposed to drive moisture out).

I turn the key and sometimes it will just click and not turn over. I try this 2 or 3 times and then the starter engages and the vehicle starts.

Either the solenoid or the starter motor itself. You need either a test light or a voltmeter to check for power at the starter side large terminal of the solenoid when it just clicks. If you get voltage or light every time it clicks, the starter motor is defective. If you don't get voltage or light when it just clicks, the solenoid is defective.
