Question about 2002 Yamaha YZF-R6

1 Answer

My 02 r6 has an idle problem. only on 1st gear when taking off. i have to rev it pretty high to get it to go but after that, everything is ok. sometimes its hard to start the bike, ,like its not feeding enough fuel into the line or something. so i always leave the choke down for the rpm to stay around 3000 rpm to ride it without stalling on me

It sounds like you may need to have the throttle bodies syncronized than have the air/fuel adjusted the make sure that they are all the same adjustments

Idles high from first to second gear .

Define idles high like its going high rpms before shifting or the engine itself is high reving if its high rpming when shifting its mostly you tranny going out you can try tranny fix oil I used it on my truck when it had shifting problems and ive had no problems since it takes a few days to work though and if its the motor itself it could be a lot of things but I dont know much of the problem based on what you told us

What's causing my Tahoe to rev high in neutral and slam into gear?

Is the check engine light on ? It could be a vac leak or a problem with the idle air control valve.

I have a 2000 r6 and the other day when I was riding the bike it started to lose power and mis fire then all of a sudden it was ok and made it home. I turned the bike off then tried to start it again but...

Check voltage at the battery terminals. it should be approx 13-14 volts when running at about 2000 revs. these are not specific to your bike , these numbers may be as high as 14.7volts or 3000 revs. revs are usually at just above idle. If the voltage at the battery terminals is below 13 you have a problem with your alternator or regulator/rectifier. Incidentally the battery voltage is DC.

The problem is an air leak leaning the fuel mix. The idle speed starts going up a ramp until it is wide open. The valves no longer seating well is a possible cause as is carb manifold gaskets, rings and a cylinder head not torqued down tight.

Grinding sound on pressing clutch in at high revs

The grinding sound may be a throw out bearing or the pilot bearing. The sticking throttle problem sounds like a linkage or cable binding up from possibly damage due to the impact from the accident.
