if you are talking about sludge and the like
use diesel engine oil --say --shell rotella 20w40 as the engine oil( same oil but with more detergent additive )
change the oil filter around every 1000 miles for starters can block easily and the oil every 3000 miles for the first 10000 miles after that oil change every 5000 miles along with the filter change

I got a Honda CRV last month, milage 88,440 when bought but now 90,250. Its already shorting engine oil. Am afraid I don't want the engine to knock. What do I do? Could it be the type of oil am using?

Best thing to do is change the engine oil a oil filter, use a good brand oil , 10w30 in winter and 20w40 in summer. It pays to change the oil and filter every 5000 km. if the motor is in good condition you should not have to top up between oil changes unless there is a oil leek or the motor is worn.

Engine oilt type?

Use 10w40 motor oil. NEVER use synthetics or oils with "Special" lubricant additives. They can mess up the cork on the clutch plates.

Oil changing in bajaj pulsar 2004 model

start the engine and run for about 5 mins to heat the oil up, this helps the oil to come out of the engine.

turn engine off
undo oil drain bolt (remeber to have a basin underneath to catch old oil)
undo oil filler cap (more oil will come out)
pour some fresh oil in to clear out remaining old oil
clean and replace oil drain bolt and washer
top up with correct amount of 20W40 (recommended JASO-MA 20W40)

list of instructions can be found here http://bajajpulsar.org/?page_id=9

2002 Seville, added motor flush, followed instructions, drained oil, couldnt get the oilpan off. drained as low as i could, changed filter, fresh oil with lucas oil to raise viscosity to counter what...

When you change oil or flush YOU dont take off the pan to clean it out as Flushing is the worst thing you do to a engine unless you are thinking of rebuilding it .
All you do is to drain ...by using the drain plug and let it drain for 10 minutes ,,while draining change the filter AIR and OIL put bung back in and refill with 20W40 or summer 20W 50 oil .
SO NOW YOU HAVE A OIL MIXED WITH FLUSHING GUNK ???????????????????

What is the correct oil capacity for this motorcycle? 1100cc

Use 20w40 SF or SG motor oil in the gear box, 20w50 in hot states like Texas. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell. Without filter change it takes 3.1 quarts. With filter change it takes 3.3 quarts.
