I replaced the water pump and all my hoses are

I replaced the water pump, pressure tested to check my head gasket and all my hoses are fine. now the housing that the thermostate sits into blows coolant out of the side. is there a gasket besides the o-rings or is it more serious?

Remove thermostat housing-check that 'o'ring was in it's groove-check that thermostat is in it's ''well'' & it's not in backwards--'pellet' towards motor,spring towards radiator.check that housing wasn't cracked when installing.clean mating surfaces.it's always the little things that get ya!

check for combustion leak test.for head gasket test.

Cost replace head gasket

wow, no year stated.!?? no location, no night time temperatures.?
ever to the work>?
costs vary by country, state and even the town.,
parts and labor.
before the gasket blew, did you run 50% antifreeze, and check it
each fall for 50% with the$2 tool> and 5min work?
if not , you will crack the head or block, (unless in key west .FL)

costs vary too, by what is wrong?, most times there are far more things wrong.
case in point, Rad leaks, hoses shot. water pump bad, and leaking
green at pump weep port. (signs)
new head gasket.
here is an example.
mech removes head , finds 2 head bolts snapped and 2hr wasted hrs.
then finds the head warped, (ask, measured .005" is bad)
then tests the valves and they leak (ask how) so sends it to the
machine shop and its $350 to grind valves and get head not warped
(heat relaxed and milled and pressure tested )he then installs the head, and times CAM and such.

as he puts on hoses, 2 snap in half, so asks owner, owner says,replace only the 2 bad hoses and ignore, the other very old
and near cracked hoses, mech rolls eyes,,,
flushes rad, new coolant, checks for leaks , it runs.

90% of all just head gaskets changed, fail, fast because all the checks were skipped.":

so the cost can be as cheap as $25 , DIY, gasket
or $500 . DIY, (head bad)
not DIY , labor varies, can be $500 alone.

Hello, You do have a water temperature sensor and radiator hose on top of the engine. There is a simple tool for testing the cooling system. A radiator pressure testing pump can pressurize the cooling system and even check the cap.

Some of the autoparts stores like Autozone, Advance, and Oreillys have tool loaner programs for a refundable deposit. This tool is similar to a bicycle pump with fittings for the radiator cap opening. You just pump up the system to the pressure stated on the cap.

The test can be run on a cold or warm engine. I hope my solution will let you find your leak.

Over heating , replased hoses radiato , thermostat, water pump a year ago. oil looks good and good year service center cold not find problem.

if you have replaced the radiator hoses.t-stat,water pump and no water in oil then you could have a cooling fan not operating(assuming it has an electric fan),or a bad head gasket or plugged radiator that is not allowing enough coolant flow.you need to check and make sure the cooling fan is operating if not then it will have to be fixed.pressure test the cooling system and check for leaks(external) and have the system checked for gases in the coolant with a head gasket test chemical.as far as the rad being plugged it will have to be removed and flow tested.

It is critical that you pressure test the system with the vehicle turned off and cooled down. Get a tool from the parts store (they can sell you a used one that you return to them and get a full refund). With the car off and cool you fill your radiator with water and screw on a special radiator cap that comes with the pressure test tool and pump up pressure in the system through that special cap. Then with a bright light you look everywhere for a leak from a hose, the water pump, or the radiator. If it's leaking or leaving stain around the intake manifold that would be a sign of a blown head gasket. A product to help with a blown head gasket is THERMAGASKET available on-line only. You may just have a leaking hose or leak by the thermostat or a leak from the water pump (in which case water pump replacement is the safest option).

Two thing's one when i turn on my heat i don't get heat. Two i am alway's putting water in it. I just bought it

Hi having no heat would suggest the thermostat is stuck closed and will need replacing, how ever the really bad news is that if you dont see any water leaking onto the floor or around the engine then this points towards head gasket failure, the thermostat failing would have caused the engine to over heat and this would have caused the head gasket to fail.

Have a good look for a leak as this is the cheapest solution, make sure you check all hoses and rad for signs of water leaking, if you find no signs then the only other way you could lose water is via the head gasket, if you cant see water leaking then it can only be going into the engine, either into the oil or being burned out through the exhaust.

check you oil level stick for signs of a white substance if you have this then the water is getting into the oil via head gasket if the oil looks fine then the chances are the water is being burned off in the cylinder.

My 1998 toyota camry 4 cylender car over heated top hose busted gasket on thermostate leaking car stop, so change out hose put new gasket ,added radiator fluid check for any leaks nothing so started car...

hi, it sounds like the head gasket has gone take out the spark plugs and check for signs of water also check the oil for signs of water as this to me looks and sounds like the head gasket has failed and will need replacing.

If water is not present then try starting the car with the coolant filler cap off and see if it starts if it does then this is head gasket failure if it still dont start then your going to need to get a compression test done and then this will tell you if the gasket is good or bad but to me it sounds like head gasket failure.

If the gasket needs replacing then you need to also check the water pump is working and also test the thermostat as any of these failing can cause the head gasket to blow again so make sure you get these checked ok.

it is the head gasket blown from the cyl to the water jacket ,a radiator specialist can test for combustion gases in the water to confirm this ,but that is what it is . "youdoit"

I have a BMW 2000 316 Ci that has been using a lot of water. My mechanic had it at the weekend and replaced a hose near the head gasket but it still has the same problem, it however is not overheating

have coolant system pressure test.what they do is pressurize your coolant.about 14 psi look in radiator for bubbles if so you have head gasket leak. or they drain oil out leave drain plug out to see if coolant come out crank case.that also means leaking head gasket or intake gasket.they will look for leaks around radiator +all hoses.look at water pump gasket weep hole.for leaks also check engine core plugs for leaks.they will make sure you have 50% coolant and 50% water .if you have too much water.it will evaporate away.
