Sounds like a Carb jetting problem. Does she have headers? or has she been sitting up for a while? Check on the web for sugestions, lots of Honda 750 sites out there. Lots of folk can set you up with carb jet #'s. to start with. If it has been setting up pull the carbs and clean them up get all the ports and small vents clean.

How to install an ignition in a 1978 chevy 4x4. The key will turn just enough to get radio, fan, heater, etc, but it will not let me turn it enough to engage the starter. If I sit there for ten minutes or...

I would think you could do it. It involves dropping down the steering column enough to access the ignition switch, it's mounted on the top side of the column and has a few plugs and 2 bolts holding it to the column, make sure you get the rod back in the slot of the new switch, and adjust the switch. If it's the lock cylinder itself, you'll need to remove the steering wheel and lock plate, to remove the lock cylinder.

Check engine compression. Those engines have a cylinder arrangement that looks like four drinking glasses sitting inside a cardboard box. During overheat, cylinders drop below deck height and do not seal against gasket. Non-technical repair was to draw file the deck 'till it's even with cylinder tops.
Obviously, check all of your work as well, you may have inadvertently knocked something loose that has to do with starting.
