Question about 1999 Suzuki GSX-R 600

1 Answer

It will not start. Pulled the spark plugs, cleaned them, held the spark plug next to ground while I cranked the motor, no spark. It ran a few days ago. I did the same thing because its been sitting in the garage for a long time, and it fired up. Now it won't.

Try using one of the old plugs and connect it to #1 and a good ground then try starting to visually confirm if spark is/is not present. Its much easier to see the spark in the dark. If you get a spark the problem is not electrical and could be a bad ground between the plug and the block, rarely happens, but not unheard of.

Yellow Gell pack? Can you describe that a little more? Does it have red and yellow wires going to it? May be a cranking RPM issue but may be some underlying issues as well. Your mechanic, did he bring the yellow gel pack to your attention? Many things to check and I feel a reputable repair facility would be able to find the issue. I will try to help you as much as I can. Please get back to me.

ave you pulled a plug wire off and cranked it to see if you are getting spark to the plugs? That would be where I would start.

98 Ford F150 w/4.6l Wont start. Hear fuel pump click. Have pressure on fuel rail. Pulled #1 plug from head and plugged back into wire. Grounded plug and cranked. No spark. Changed wires 4 and 7 four days...

have diagnostic codes checked to see if you have a cam or crank sensor fault. make sure fuel pressure is at the required pressure, just testing to see if you have fuel at the valve is not enough. replace all spark plug wires. if you replaced two then all are just as old and even when they "look good" does not qualify as "they are good". Replace coil pack. start up drive away happy

I would suggest you go through your entire ignition system. I would start with rechecking the 2 dead plugs for spark. Check all your plug wires for ware and damage check the plugs themselves. The induction wire and im not sure but if you have a distributor check the cap. If you go through the entire spark system and it is getting a good spark you might want to start checking out the engine itself.

Sounds more like an electrical problem.First I'd check the battery voltage, should be at least 13. It shouldn't drop much below 11 when you crank the engine and it should bounce back when you stop. Make sure your connections are good especially to the coil, wires aren't frayed or loose on connectors. There should be a ground from the body to the motor. Is it still thereand making good contact? If I'm not mistaken the coil should ground to the motor, make sure it has good contact as well. Also double check your connections at the starter to make sure they are clean and tight. Loose connections can draw extra power and could draw enough extra power to kill the coil. Hope this helps.
