I have a 1995 Chevy 1500 4.3 v6 vortec I just replaced the starter and the battery and when I try and turn it over all it does is click it has 190,131 miles any ideas??

There are a few possibilities.

1. The new battery is bad. Even new ones can be defective. Even if it reads over 12 volts, that doesn't mean it has enough current to crank the starter.
2. The new starter is defective. It can happen.
3. The starter is not engaging the flywheel correctly. Some starters require shims or else the solenoid will only kick the starter gear into the side of the flywheel teeth.
4. There is a loose or corroded connection at the battery or the starter causing a loss of current to the starter motor.
5. Worst case scenario is that the engine is seized. Put a socket on the crank pulley bolt and rotate clockwise. If it turns, you're OK.

Won't turn over just makes click have hanged the battery

Suspect a bad drive in the starter motor if it turns and kicks out. You may also have a problem with the ring gear affecting starter operation

Starter will not operate

is the starter drive gear kicking in does the starter have a solenoid on the starter then you need to power that as well that kicks the drive in

Starter spins but will not engage

this could be a few problems that cause this,

1. your battery could be weak and not have enough juice to engage the starter solenoid

2. the bendix could be messed up

3. this is probaly the most common problem, the starter solenoid went out

the best course of action would be to have your battery load tested, and if its fine, replace the starter

My 00 impala 3.4 doesnt start.i took the starter off and checked it out but its fine. when the key turns the starter spins but wont engage with the motor.i have a brand new battery, all cables are connected...

Does the starter kick out and spin normally out of the car? Have you checked the condition of the flywheel? Ususally the starter doesnt turn until the solenoid kicks the gear out to engage the flywheel. Check if the gear on the starter is bad, it should slip one way, and not the other.

My 1981 yamaha xj650 doen't crank. The oil light comes on when I push the ignition. I would like to know what that means so I can fix it.

you have a bad kick stand safety switch, look where the kick stand mount is, their is a switch with 3 wires, connect two of them together and try it, if not hook the other two together, that will fix your problem.

Starting problem, starter doesn't enguage. good starter, battery, celinoid, ignition lock, flex plate.

Have you chk. the starter switch on the steering colume under dash? Or is starter drive kicking in but not engaging teeth in flexplate? If its not engaging teeth on flexplate starter needs to be shimmed, or if its missing the teeth altogether on flexplate or bearly catching the teeth, top of starter nose wear it bolts up needs to be filed down to engage the teeth on flexplate.
