How do I fix backfiring on my quad 200 Grizzly

Your fuel mix is too rich (adjust the carburetor), or the valve timing is off (replace the timing chain), or you have a sticky valve (pull the head).

Why does my 250cc suzuki quad have no compression with a new top end?

If its a 2 stoke,"takes gas oil mix", piston in backwards,, ,,,,if its a 4 stroke "takes gas only"...rocker arms need adjusted, or cam not set in proper place during resembly "out of time". Or a. Bent valve/valves,,,in the head, valve will have to be replaced

Does 1997 pontiac sunfire gt 2.4 L set it's own timing

No, The 2.4lt quad 4 has a timing CHAIN when it starts to get sloppy the chain must be replaced. As these engines have an internal ignition pack under the valve cover ther is no adjustment. Unless you are an acomplished mechanic I don't suggest you takle this on your own.

i think you need to take the oil pan back off and take a good look at the rod bearings, this engine sounds a lot like upper end noise when the piston is hitting the bottom of the cylinder head because a rod bearing has spun.

so if you find your quad his much harder to start after the engine is warm every time then you may very well have tight valves. Which would require a proper valve adjustment. also your valve adjustment should be easy as they are screw and locknut adjusted. hope that helps!

Having problem putting the timing chain one and

If you have a dohc quad four type engine, if you did not get the chain alignment absolutely correct, chances are that you have severe engine damage if you cranked it over. Both cam gears must be locked while putting chain on and must be perfect (not close) otherwise the first time you crank it the valves will hit the pistons. (did you get the tensioner on correctly?) Don't attempt to start it, tear it down again.

Hyosung RX125 I have a slight knocking from the engine. I adjusted the valve clearances to their proper settings but still no change. I dismantled the the engine further but could see no obvious problem....

It sounds like you have the cam 180 degrees out of time. The engine locks up because the piston is hitting an open valve. Hopefully the valve is not bent.

Problem starting

sounds more like a slipped timing chain to me, big problem area on the big power 4-strokes, tokyo mods makes a manual timing adjuster, will make a big difference in longevity of your next timing chain, i wound also check the vaves to make sure the piston hasn't shaken hands with the valves
