Question about 2001 Yamaha YZ 426 F

2 Answers

My 2001 yz426f has a problem with engine coolant leaking from the weep hole under the side housing that holds the water propeller. This seems to happen only when the bike is standing still, even when it?s only a few minutes. Once it is moving again it seems to slow down or sometimes stop. I have changed the O-ring for the propeller housing and flushed the coolant but it still happens. The bike runs great and has tons of power, it starts on the first couple of kicks but I cannot stop for any length of time without shutting it off or it starts blowing out coolant.

WHOOOAA...HEAVY DUDE. What Beattie means is your cook seal meat with heat..Right ??. I'd say you've blown a prop shaft seal . Whip it out and replace that weeping ****** before you forget about it and cause mega buck engine damage. While you've got the shaft out, check it for true(spin it in a drill , be carefull ).also polish up the shaft ever so gently where the seal makes contact. You'll be ruling the roost instead of cooking your goose once you do this ARGUS....Cheers from down under. Tilleydog282...Check my web site and ask a question if that doesnt get ya outta trouble.. Google.."Motohq". about halfway down first page Ozzie sites..Vshop...Catchya...Argus.

My 2001 Plymouth leaks coolant got to add bout twice a week been doing it 2 weeks now it doesn't run hot is it the water pump going out

check the engine for where the water is leaking. I had an engine leaking at the back side and it was corroded
Welsh plugs in the engine. If it was the water pump water it would be leaking out the water pump. Check Hoses with engine hot . Also check exhaust pipe is not blowing steam out from a blown head gasket.

95-2001 plymouth voyager water pump

For all dodge minivans 94 to 2001 (and others) with 3.0 ltr V-6. You're driving on the freeway your temp gauge starting to go up. You get off the freeway. when the engine is cooled down you discover that the coolant in gone. You refill the radiator and look for a leak but can't find one. You check the oil but its not foamy, so no coolant there. If all seems to be operating normally, check under the vehicle when the engine is warmed up. There may be a slight coolant leak on the passenger side near the front tire .When the water pump on these engines typically coolant will leak out of the pump thru a "weep hole" located at the bottom of the pump. Most of the loss occurs while driving so your only indication may be that small drip of coolant. The water pump is powered by the camshaft timing belt and is located under the timing belt cover and can not be seen, however any coolant leak, no matter how small, in the area just to the rear of the crankshaft pulley is almost surely a failed water pump and must be addressed immediately

Coolant leaking from hole under water pump houseing

Coolant leaking from the "weep" hole indicates that the seals are out on the water pump. That's actually what the hole is for, to monitor the condition of the water pump seals. Pretty simple fix with the factory repair manual. Replace the impeller shaft and bearings along with the seals while your in there. Good luck!

04 intrepid coolant leaking from side of engeine under lower hose housing is there a weep hole there or is it possible the housing is cracked

if you have a 2.7 v6 engine th ecoolant you are seeing is the water pump, on this engine the water pump is internal and driven by the timing chain, it is a very difficult job and quite pricy since it is very labor intensive.

Leaking coolant from a small hole located in the block right under the thermostat housing coolant inlet. we removed housing and gasket replaced gasket and installed, leaks from small hole?

water pump failure, water pump on these run off the timing chain and the timing chain runs in oil, so they could not just put a weep hole on the pump because it would go strait to the oil pan, instead they redirected the coolant from the leaking pump to just below the thermostat housing. And good luck, it's at least a 6 hour job on these. Brandon-MO

I have a 2001 saturn wagon, Coolant leak where the alternator is!

What may assist in your diagnostic is a system pressure tester. This has a hand pump to where you can pressure up the system to 12 to 17 lbs and this really helps bring on hard to find leaks. You may be overlooking coolant leaking from the "weep hole" in the bottom of the water pump or a place that might become much more obvious inspecting this system under pressure. The tester also helps diagnostic by noticing if the system holds pressure for a sustained amount of time.A small leak will drop your 12 psi in a matter of a few minutes and you will continually need to pump a few more times to keep that pressure which further indicates the system is leaking down.

Leaking engine coolant from bottom of engine front passenger side

Probably a water pump seal unfortunately. Pressurize the system, with the engine off, use a mirror to look under the water pump pulley to see if any fluid is dripping from the water pump seal weep hole.
If it is, change the water pump.
Good luck, let me know.
