Question about 1996 Yamaha YZF Thunder ace 1000 R

Have a 96 thunderace no fuel getting to no1 carb cleaned carb ran sweet then started to miss fire again no1 carb not getting fuel again checked fuel pump/filter/tank all free of dirt can u help

Float needs adjusting by stripping down again and take the pin out that holds the float in place then it will come off withe the inlet fuel valve still connected all you have to do is bend the tab down a tad just a little bit so it allows more fuel in the bottom then reinstall back together get back to me if no difference have a 96 thunderace no fuel getting to no1 carb - 3f7ac68.jpg

A real bad fuel smell probably means fuel or vapour is leaking from somewhere and it could be leaking out or leaking in and either could cause bad running.

A visual check of the fuel and vapour system from the filler neck to the engine is needed to ensure there is no leaks. If there are no external leaks it is likely the leak is internal, probably via a stuck injector or similar...

I have a gpz750 1982 that starts well but wont run on all 4 cyl either no1 or no2 wont join in popping and backfiring

Could be dirty / bad fuel but that should have affected all cylinders. It could also be a pinched fuel line to the cylinders. Sorry can't be more helpful

I have a 2000 CR 250, has always ran perfect and now will not start or fire. It has spark and is getting fuel to the carb(cleaned it spotless) air filter clean also. Fuel is fresh (use non-ethanol Supreme)...

Try starting it with a brief spray of ether into the intake. If it runs briefly it indicates a fuel/carb problem.

If it doesn't run the problem could be spark related, poor induction due to crank seals or other air leaks or perhaps oil is settling in the crankcase and corrupting the incoming charge.

96 bandit, wont start,will turn over but not fire up, have changed plugs, drained carbies, checked for spark, still not firing up, any ideas?

check fuel filter and shut off in float chamber , if you have spark and gas , still not firing check timing .

Backfiring out of the exhaust is usually an ignition problem. Unburned fuel is getting into the exhaust system because it's not being ignited in the cylinder. When the engine fires on that cylinder again, it ignites the raw fuel in the exhaust causing the pop that people call a backfire. I'd investigate the ignition system. Connect a timing light to each of the spark plug wires if it has a single fire ignition or either of them if the ignition system is the stock dual fire. Start the engine and watch the timing light to tell if the engine is missing as the light will miss a flash.

Cub 1550 with kohler courage. Runs fine and then loses power, runs erratic and starts to backfire. Cleaned carb and fuel pump and ran fine for 30 minutes and then problem started again. When this occurs,...

Replace fuel filter after cleaning tank thouroughly, to clean tank remove fuel line at carb. Drain all fuel then leave line loose until you flush tank with carb. Cleaner then blow out tank with compressed air. Now install new fuel filter and check your fuel can for trash and water better yet just add fresh fuel.

Have fuel starts dies then won`t fire leave for a while then it does the same again

if it has not been serviced,remove any fuel that is in tank,remove the tank and remove gas shut off and clean the screen,remove spark plug and do compression check on each cylinder,remove carbs and clean/rebuild(carb kit),replace the float needle valve will be a little pricey but its worth it,sounds like fuel restriction to carbs,thats why I suggest at least fuel tank shut off screen clean,if you want to just drain carb float bowls of fuel to make sure that there is no water in them first before any disassembly try that,its possible the may be the problem.I have done carb clean with a dynajet kit with K&N filter and an aftermarket performence exhaust,carb synch,and fuel mix adjust ran like champ,but did not check fuel tank,it had water in gas tank,had to drain tank,fuel lines,fuel pump,and carbs again.ran fine after that,hope that helps or at least points you in right direction.

It sounds like time to clean the carburetors. Just for fun, remove the screw on the side of the carb float bowl. Is gas even getting into the carbs? Check the fuel valve on the tank. Is gas flowing freely when the valve is open? I would install a set of new spark plugs and add an in-line fuel filter also.
