That is more than enough movement. Most probably don't move half that much. All they have to do is release the spring pressure from between the plates.

I have a 1993 suzuki intruder 1400 clutches are stuck haveno petal at all bled all my lines checked everything bought it from a guy who left it in the weather have tried riding it to get it hot to free...

Tou will need to renove the cover and while acutating the clutch (either have another person squeeze it or tie it down with a bungee) pry the plates apart with a screwdriver or other suitable instrument. The plates have become stuck as a result of the sitting. Sometimes you can free them bu 'bump starting' with the ignition off in 1st gear with the clutch squeezed in.

I have problem with my clutch in my 2004 Susuki Intruder. I put it away last year it was working fine I went to take it out and the clutch does not work it will go into grear but the clutch wont disengage

G'day. I can definatly help you with this. This is a problem I have come across many many times in my career as a motorcycle mechanic. It is a very common problem for bikes that have been sitting around for a while. What has happened is that all the clutch plates are stuck together. There are two ways to rectify this problem. One is to remove the clutch cover, remove the clutch springs, then the plates-noting the order- clean, re-lubricate & re-assemble.
The other way- which I have sucessfully used in 98% of cases is to start the bike in neutral, chock the front wheel- I position the bike with the front wheel against a brick wall or good size tree for a dirt bike, hold on the front brake tightly, rev the engine & hold at about 2000 rpm, click it into 2nd gear.CAUTION- The bike may jump forward &/or stall(get some friends/helpers on each side as "catchers" if your not too confident) Try this a couple of times if necessary & it usually works. Also you could try riding the bike with some front brake applied whilst pulling the clutch lever in & out several times.(This seperates the pressure plates whilst the clutch basket is spinning & can let the oil acess the fibre & steel plates whilst there not under pressure).
I hope this helps you.
Kind regards Andrew Porrelli

93 intruder 1400, what are the specs on clutch disk, when to replace ?

Your bike is getting very old. Replace the clutch plates while parts may still be available. If the clutch is working okay then get the parts and hold on to them for when they are needed. Go to www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx

1995 900 sp clutch does not disengage when lever

hi,this may help,it sounds like your clutch plates are stuck together, this is quite common on bikes that have been parked up for a while, mine does it ocasionally,i fix it by getting the bike moving and crash starting it,once you have got it running and moving with the bike in the highest gear you can get it into(you can change up and down the gearbox without the clutch and not do any damage)simply pull the clutch lever in and roll on and off the throttle a couple of times and the clutch should disengage...hope this helps

Hydraulic clutch wont disengag. Has been sitting for awhile

this sounds like the friction plates have become gummed together. this will mean you will have to take the friction plates out and clean them. probably gummed with old oil. once cleaned you should have no probs with the clutch

I have been advised to adjust my clutch on my intruder, but havent got a clue where to start, please can anyone help. Also how do you know if you have a wet or dry clutch?

the clutch lever on the handle bars has a piece that screws out on the end of the cable. screw it out counterclock wise till there is only a little slack till clutch disengages
