There is no set amount of turns to get it to lock in. Good rule of thumb is if you can get your fingers behind it its not back far enough. What you have to do is turn it and kinda **** it back and forth. You turn it and pull it and push it back in quickly. After a few times it should drop in. Can take a few minutes to get it in.

Insert torque converter into transmission and hold in place with home made bracket. Move trans into position to engine while aligning the holes in the flexplate to the bolts in the torque converter. Once alignment, secure the transmission to the engine. Then tighten the converter nuts and bolts

If you installed the torque converter wrong and messed up the pump willit leak fluid on 05 ford f250 superduty turbo diesel 4x4

Yes it will, there are seals on the shaft, the pump forces fluid down the shaft into the torque converter, then it returns to the transmission.

How to install a torque converter in a 2000 2.5Lt on Ford ranger 2 wheel drive?

You need to remove the transmission to do this. Remove the inspection cover at the junction of the engine and transmission to get to the bolts to disconnect the torque converter from the drive plate (the part with teeth that the starter engages). Remove the driveshaft, then the transmission. The torque converter will come out with the transmission. Pull the old torque converter from the transmission, and install the new one. Ensure the torque converter goes all the way into the transmission/hydraulic pump. Reinstall the transmission, ensuring that the torque converter is still free to turn during the entire installation process, especially while drawing up the transmission to the engine. Once the transmission is bolted up, reinstall the bolts holding the torque converter to the drive plate. Reinstall the drive shaft and the inspection cover.

If you haven't done any major mechanical work on a car before, seek the help of someone who has. You will need a hoist or a jack and jack stands, and a good set of tools.

How to get fly wheel off of 77 Ford F100, 351 mod, 400 block?

I had to do this on my 1988 F250, if I remember correctly:
Remove in this order:
Driveshaft, Starter, lower cover plate, transmission, torque converter.
Flywheel s/b bolted to converter.
When driveshaft is removed - plug gap in tranny output - between drive shaft and housing - to prevent fluid spillage.
When removing transmission - plug hole in converter to prevent spillage.
When handling converter hold it flywheel side down until - to avoid fluid loss.
I presume you have all the correct tools and a helper.
hope it goes well

I have a 2000 Ford F250 Superduty Diesel. When I

Have you looked at your anti lock braking system. It will give a pulsation when it is in use. You may have a problem with it and it is coming on prematurely. Listen when your truck is doing this and you should hear the humming of the antilock system if it is on. Otherwise i would ckeck your ball joints and tie rod ends for wear as this can cause a vibration back thru your braking system as well

My parents 2000 f250 wont go anywhere when put into gear. As they pulled onto the street it just stopped moving and made a high pitched noise. There were no signs of the transmission being bad before it...

it sounds like the torque converter went out on the truck, i would get it to a shop asap and see if its repairable or if there going to need a new transmission
