My 94 honda accord has been sitting for almost 3 years now. i just put in a new battery and changed the oil. i have idled the car many time but still has strong exhaust fumes. what else can i do to prepair for my smog check on monday sept. 21st?
Check for an exhaust leak, especially near and immediately after the rear exhaust manifold. The flex pipes tend to rust out - and those fumes will permeate from under the floorboard.

Run a good fuel additive in the tank, get good fresh gas. Be sure no rust thru in the muffler. Drive it as much as you can to clean out any carbon from sitting, if you have to take it to a parking lot, local school .

i had a muffler welded on years ago, and now notice the weld that connect the muffler to the exhaust pipe is rusted and leaks. should i take it back to to muffler shop to get repaired before the smog? i only have one day to get my car smog'd without fee's....
