i had a muffler welded on years ago, and now notice the weld that connect the muffler to the exhaust pipe is rusted and leaks. should i take it back to to muffler shop to get repaired before the smog? i only have one day to get my car smog'd without fee's....

Check for an exhaust leak, especially near and immediately after the rear exhaust manifold. The flex pipes tend to rust out - and those fumes will permeate from under the floorboard.

Yes, I would take it in and have it repaired. It will depend how badly it is rusted as to whether or not they can just simply weld it back together. They may need to weld a sleeve - or cut out that section and weld in another.

    Good Luck!

Run a good fuel additive in the tank, get good fresh gas. Be sure no rust thru in the muffler. Drive it as much as you can to clean out any carbon from sitting,  if you have to take it to a parking lot, local school .

Yes you will need to have the muffler fixed for a smog test. If there is too much leakage they will stop the test.

Exhaust fumes

Look for a bad gasket where the pipe connects to the manifold. Could just be loose bolts or a bad gasket.

My 94 honda accord is idling up and down when in park or neutral whats the problem

hello, i just had the same problem. i have a 94 accord 4 cyl, and the rpm would sit at 500at normal temp. i cleaned the iacv the ficv. there is also a screw under the throttle body( i forgot what is is called, but you screw it back in), that seemed to help for my fluctuating idle problem. i recently changed my pcv valve and now my rpm sit at 1000. so i think that you need to change out your pcv valve. only 2.99 at autozone. hope you found this helpful

My '94 honda accord won't shift out of park unless i put the key in the gear shift. The lights start dimming, and it takes off slower than normal. 2 months ago i had the same problem and I got a new...

Something is draining the battery. In my 94 Accord manual shift, it was the antenna motor and have to pull the plug at the antenna terminal in the rear. Then discovered that the battery posts was too loose and have to replace both positive and negative posts in order to get a real connection.

94 accord ex. rough idle. wants to stall.

If it was running fine prior to putting the new exhaust on, then there is either a restriction in the exhaust causing too much back pressure or something didn't get hooked back up.

good luck

94 honda accord hard to shift from park

You seem to have two (2) separate problems one may be a BAD brake light switch this switch is mounted at the top of BRAKE pedal and control the locking mechanism on gear shifter(safety component-for example if a kid is sitting in seat with vehicle running he/she will NOT be able to put vehicle in gear without stepping on brake). The other problem is a BAD shifter cable-this cable moves the selector in the transmission when you move shift knob. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA

Automatic choke stopped working- difficulty start- revs dropping low at stop

Quick and easy attempt to fix might be to try some fuel injector cleaner, the purple bottle stuff I put in, is only about $3 a bottle, and seems to eliminate similiar symptoms brought on by bad gas.
