Question about 2004 Honda CBF 600 S
The bike is Honda CBF 600 S. The problem is that it doesnt want to start, there is electrical contact and its throws a spark, there is enought fuel in the tank but it doens want to start. The bike is 5 years old now and there never has been a problem of this sort before. Except it happened once that when it was washed the battery soon went flat and also the problem appeared.
Please send your comments, cant imagine what it could be.
Thanks a lot!
Well first off i never wash my bike....i hand towel everything and for the tough greasy spots i use Chemtool b-12 basically MEK, please wear gloves and mask when using this, it has highly toxic fumes!! Second when you wash a battery with water and dont wipe it dry it'll cause a drain across the top because there is now a water conection between the two...always keep the battery top clean. thats what probably happen to you the first time. first off let me know ..does it bump start o.k. everytime? and there is the possiblity that since you've be washing your bike that the kill switch is not functioning properly you might have got moisture in there.
by a cheap trickle charger let it charge for about four hours leave the seat off and take a meter to it to see what the voltage is..it should be about minmum 12.6v that sufficient. 13 would be excellent. 12.2 means it dying. Crank it up to 4000 prm and watch the votage go to 15v and then regulate down to about 13v...if this checks out your battery system is in good shape. also make sure that all your spark plug wires are securely connected..it"ll only take one to mess it up. Yours is probably fuel injected and im not to much up on that so thats about all i can suggest or you can do something that i swear by that i used when i had bad hesitation and just a crappy ride and wont hurt your engine...by some Seafoam for an automotive store and pour about a tird of it in about two gallons of gas and ride a minimum of fifteen miles getting up to speed once in awhile to work this stuff through after ten miles it just kicked in and back to normal ever since...so now i use a tad everyweek to keep it that way. i now have only a 1% starting problem as opposed to at 10% non-starting problem....must still be a little dirt or gunk still in there.Just remember bump start it add some sea foam...it might ride rough for the first five miles but keep at it dont let it stall. later.
