Harley Road King motor turned off

While I was driving my Road King, it all of a sudden shut down, and I wouldn't turn on again. I don't know what happened. I am a new harley owner.

After checking the kill switch on the handle bars and the key. It could be a simple wire or even a computter problem check to see if you have spark if it even turns over, without knowing if it fuel injected or carb its hard to give an exact find or fix. If your not formiluar with the road kings working I would suggest you take it to a harley mech.

2007 Road King Classic stalls unexpectedly when driving...no sputtering, just shuts down...starts back up whether stationary or driving...but no warning about cut off

Will the bike start up without turning off? If you have to turn ignition off then on again before it will start it may be the bank angle sensor gone faulty. This will set NO error codes in memory as it is NOT a recognised fault. ECU simply thinks bike has fallen over and shuts engine down.

I have a 2005 Harley Road King Custom. With ignition switch on, I have horn, brake lights and instrument light. I don't hear fuel pump, turn signals don't work; headlight doesn't work and

Hi Mark, I would start by checking fuses first located behind the left side panel. Then check for continuity at your system/fuel pump relay also in that same general area, check the connection at the turn signal module and for continuity at the ignition switch and your high/low beam switch. This is assuming of course that your security alarm has been disabled. for more information on your question please visit the websites below and good luck:

High idle on HD, 08 Road King Classic

For fast RPM's at start that doesn't go down shortly after starting.
1) Put bike in neutral
2) Push to ON the first switch to right of starter switch next to throttle.
3) turn dial on gas tank to the On position for 5 seconds then off wait 2-3 seconds and repeat 3 more times total of 4 times
4)then Turn everything to off positions
5) wait a few seconds and start normally

I found that if you shut down the bike with rpms up a bit, it will start the next time with a faster than normal idle.

If you do this technique when the bike is cold, it will run a little fast til it warms up. Don't ask me why this works.

How do you know when to replace the drive belt without taking it off? Just bought a 1999 road king whith 26,000 miles.

Depends on a dozen things. If you follow this rule, you will not go far wrong: "If in doubt, throw it out - replace it".

I don't think I would be taking any chances on breaking down away from home when you can replace this belt for relatively little $. Between it's apparent age (12 years ) and the miles on the belt (26,000) ... I would replace it.

Of course, you can ask the pros at your local Harley shop for their opinion. My bet is they will say Replace It.

Thank you for your question @ FixYa.com

2001 Road King. Runs fine for three or four miles. Then it shuts down. It turns over fine but won't fire.I checked for a spark and there is none. All instument lights head lights work fine but no spark....

The same thing just happen to me and a friend of mine on our 2001 Road Kings. I am 95% sure your problem is the crank position sensor. We replace ours and the bikes are back to their glory.

I have an 04 Fatboy, I was riding it down the freeway tonight when all of a sudden it just powered off. I managed to get it to the side of the road, still lots of gas. I noted the speedo needle seemed to...

Most likely you have a bad wiring connection or short in the system. Possible handle bar controls (off/run switch) problem. I would start there and work your way through the electrical system looking for squashed or exposed wiring.
