Question about 1983 Honda GL 1100 Innerstate Gold Wing

I need to lower my 2005 Goldwing ... have no idea how to do this.

I'm just a little too short to properly fit my Goldwing. Stopping and putting my feet down leaves me on my toes and not very secure. Anyone know how this lowering can be accomplished ... or if it can be accomplished?

In my case I am very tall and the prior owner was short and cut the seat foam. I went to a motorcycle seat builder in Bainbridge New York and worked with him to add and remove foam as needed in various parts of the seat till I found a nice height and comfort. Total cost $75.00 I also had seen a couple of seat builders at Americade in Lake George NY that offered similar seat work. You might be able to find a seat builder in your area at a trade show or try online. My riding buddy has an after market air ride seat he purchased for $750.00 for his Goldwing that lowers about 4 inches with the press of a button then self inflates as needed. There are many companies out there that offer after market seats and seat rebuilding that can help.

You may be able to modify your seat by removing some of the padding, and recovering it. Aftermarket seats may also be available.

Very slight adjustments in height can often be achieved by moving the fork tubes in the triple clamp. Note that this will affect the handling characteristics of the bike. This modification is not recommended for safety reasons.

Another alternative is to wear boots with an extra thick sole.

In any of these cases, the difference in height is going to be relatively small -- a couple inches at most. It is important that your bike allows you to feel comfortable, confident, and that you can control it fully at all times. Although it's not a very satisfying solution, the best solution might be to find a bike with a lower standover height.

No brakes at rear wheel of my 2005 standard goldwing. Had a new rear tire(screw/nail) put on and the service man told me.I normally slow down slow enough to use front brakes.I had installed full foot...

Try putting the bike on the center stand and get the front wheel off the ground with a floor jack. Spin the front wheel by hand and press on the rear brake pedal. The front wheel should stop. Likewise with the bike on the center stand and the rear wheel off the ground you should be able to lock the rear wheel with the foot pedal. On many Goldwings the rear pedal also operates one front disc. This is for people that refuse to use there front brakes to stop or slow there bike (80% to 90% of your stopping power is the front brake). Try bleeding the entire system front and back, you may just have air in the system. If the rear brake still does not work you may have a bad delay valve in the system. If you need to take the bike in to a shop, try to find a mechanic that is familiar with the system so they do not replace parts unnecessarily. That way you minimize your shop time and maximize your riding time.

2005 Honda Goldwing- Electrical issue. Bright

sounds like a wire has been added the wrong way or wires have damage, switch could be the culprit. Does the kill switch work? I would be checking all wires and the conectors for heat damage (melting). And fuses for all circuts. if low beam is used does key work to stop engine?

My kinetic purchased in 1995, started to not fully charge and show a full charge. It runs only a short time before stopping, this happened suddenly after years of perfect operation. The watch is in good...

It is a little old but should give many more years of service. I suggest that you have it cleaned, this should make all the difference.

Since these watches contain a battery it might also be a good idea to have a new one fitted.

Placed new tires on 1982 goldwing but forks will not fit axle properly. the axle is inside of outside end of the right fork

There are two possibel reasons for this:
1. the most likely is that you installed the axle the wrong way around - try to fit it form the oppososite side. See if it fits the fork better.
2. second possibility is that one or both wheel bearings have moved in their housings a little when you tightened the axle in the wheel. You should investigate the condition of the wheel bearings before you go any further.
Lastly, it is not uncommon fo rthe axles to be a little way inside the fork ends due to manufacturing tolerances. What should not happen is that their position changes without obvious reason.
