Question about 2002 Yamaha YZ 426 F

My 2002 426 wont start at all. replaced the plug. checked the timing, thats all good. carby is all good and still wont start

    if all you say is correct AND you"re getting a fairly good fat blue spark and of course fuel is in the bowl it must be a compression problem or an air leak. Need more info though; does it bump start for example?

    when does it stop starting ... have you make any new maitenance on the bike that should help me to diagnostic or the way it just end up

Try squirting some fuel on the inlet and see if it fires for a second and get back to me

overhaul the carby with new diaphragms or new carby
( almost as cheap from e-bay as a overhaul kit from the mower shop)
if no carby bowl , the diaphragms that pump the fuel will be hard and nor seal properly on the seats

Hey iv got as GV650 Aquila it wont start the motor turns over no problem but wont Start any suggestions?


check for spark plugs and try to push start button at the same time while the fuel pump motor refreshes. there is also a fuel filter through the fuel is pumped to the jets. if this filter is jammed by dirt particles then also you can experience the same problem.

89 mitsubishi carby model has spark and pumps fuel to carby but the spark plugs are dry just keeps cranking but wont even try to fire also has good comp,was driving till water pump blew now just wont fire...


Check that the fuel pump is working and pumping fuel (fuse or burnt out) as it sounds like there is no fuel in the carby. To check if the engine is going to run remove the air filter from the top of the carby and pour about a table spoon of fuel directly into the carby throat. Replace the air filter and crank the engine. If is going to run it will fire and then stop

I have a 1984 ford telstar sometimes it turns over an sometimes it wont but it wont start it was running before this . i have replaced the fuel filter .why wont it start it just winds over and wont st


You can check for spark and a cloged carb at the same time dump a lil fuel straight down the carb if it kicks theres spark if not well... you could double check the firing order and timing good luck on the Fixed Or Repaired Daily :p

My 5.5 honda engine on my lawnmower will start but wont stay running already cleaned the carb out didnt help there is no restrictions in the fuel lines im lost please help


it sounds like a fuel problem.
first drian fuel out of tank.
i know you have already cleaned the carby but dis assemble carby and clean with carby cleaner.
re assemble carby & fill tank with fresh fuel.
also clean air filter & check oil level & check spark plug,if the spark plug is black and the tip is blocked with oil build up, then replace.

Just fixed my Ryobi 3043YW. I got this given to me not working and didnt even need it. I already have one. I decided to have a look over it, see if I could get it going.
To my surprise everything looked clean. I checked for spark, that was good, compression seemed good. I took the spark plug out and tipped some fuel in the cylinder, put the plug back in and tried to start it.
If it started I would have suspected the carby, but it still didnt start.
I was really annoyed because everything looked clean but it still wouldnt start. There was fuel, spark and compression, I didnt know what else could make this thing not start.
I pulled it completely apart and found the rotor assembly was the problem. It was causing a timing issue, meaning that it was sparking at the wrong times, when there was no gas in the cylinder.
On the inside of the rotor is a pin or a key that lines up on the shaft and gives the spark its timing. That key was made of cast iron and had broken off, causing the rotor to spin on the shaft out of alignment. This through the timing out.
I lined it up and tightened it and its working again. I couldnt believe it when it started, I have spent hours on this thing.
I will have to try and replace the rotor (Part no. 300952001), otherwise it will slip on the shaft again sooner or later and do the same thing.
Unfortunately I need to replace the gaskets too now as most came apart when I was pulling it apart.

I have a 1983 suzuki gs 400 e and cannot get it to run i think its the timing and would like any info on how to time it


G'Day jesse,
This model GS has electronic ignition, so there is not much to really adjust for timing side of things. Once set, that is it.

Here are some things you need to check first to see why the bike may not start. I would suggest initially to check that there is spark by removing each plug in turn and check that when being cranked, you have good blue coloured spark. Be sure not keep the plug well grounded when doing this as coil damage can result is you don't get the spark to earth.
If you dont have spark then you need to work out why not. It may be a coil, TCI Ignition module, or less likely inductive pickup sensor. Checking for blown fuses and good power supply to the coil and also to the control module is a good start here.
If you have spark, next thing is to check you have compression. Buy, borrow or steal ;) a compression tester. If need to have at least 100 lb compression for the pick to fire. Check out this guide on compression testing.
If you have good compression, you most probably have a carby problem. Be sure to drain the carbies and tank, fill with fresh fuel before you do anything else, and try starting it again. Carby problems always involves removing the carbies and FULLY dismantling them then thoroughly cleaning all parts, galleries, jets, passageways, of fuel varnish and dirt. Use carby cleaner, and compressed air to blow it all out. Check here for Dans excellent guide to overhauling your carbies.
Always work with a fully charged battery, fresh fuel, and perseverance. you will get there in the end:) I have barely touched on what may be the problem here. More than Happy to talk to you more about this. Good luck :)
