Depend on the model bike you have. This is not uncommon especially if you have one of the Dresser models. You can try to locate the source of the rattle and try to remedy it but nearly all H-D bikes do this. My Dyna Wide Glide does it and there just seems to be nothing there that should rattle.

I HAVE A NEW 2011 HERITAGE SOFTTAIL AND WISH TO ADJUST THE REAR SHOCK BUT CANNOT LOCATE THE ADJUSTER


The adjusters are on the shocks that are underneath the bike. There are two adjustments. One is a nut on the shock stem that adjusts the height of the bike and the other is end plate of the shock with the holes in it. This adjusts the preload of the shocks. You need a special tool to adjust the preload.

2000 FLHCUI Police edition. Having a problem where the bike shuts down then seems to start back up. Today at a stop light bike shut down no power of any kind. New battery on bike checked connections....


Sounds like a main circuit breaker tripping. That's going to be tough to find. It's an intermittent short somewhere. This would be my "best guess".

Replace starter clutch on a 97 Harley Fatboy


You have to remove the starter from the bike and then take the starter apart. Remove the starter motor from the solenoid housing and then remove the gear housing from the front of the solenoid. The starter clutch comes out. You'll probably have to remove the bearings from the old unit and install them back onto the new unit. How do I change the jack shaft seal?


You must take the starter off the bike. While you have the starter and the jackshaft out of the bike, you can install a new jackshaft seal in the inner primary cover.

Idles high and misses when cold. after you run it for a while it runs normal


You didn't say whether your bike was fuel injected or carbureted. A fuel injected bike or a carbed bike with the enricher pulled out will idle high. It is supposed to. Now, it should not miss though. It might be time for a new set of spark plugs. The enricher runs a very rich mixture and will foul a plug if you run it too long. I always tell people to only run the enricher just long enough so you can keep the bike running with the hand throttle. Turn the enricher off as soon as possible to prevent fouling a plug. If the bike is fuel injected, you'll have to take it back to the dealer to have it adjusted.

My big thanks to steve for replying my bike is a 1996 flhri road king that has a gas leak behind the horn coming from a part called a redistrubition module and tell me that if they cant fix it with another...


Oh man, now I know why I stayed away from any electronic fuel injected bike. I don't know a lot about the fuel injected bike for this reason. I'm an old school biker and I specialize in 2000 and earlier non-injected bikes. I like carburetors and get along pretty well with them.

As for your problem, this redistribution block must be an integral part of another part. I cannot imagine why it would cost that much unless the Euro has lost it's value against the dollar and I highly doubt that. I'm sorry that I can't tell you more but here's my e-mail address wd4ity at bellsouth.net. Drop me a line and let me do some checking around here and see what I can do. Steve

Hard start


buy a start monkey this is smallest recharger ever. I take it with me always.just jump it when tou have trouble. this is the best thing to do. forget about benelli, your on your own. steve
