Question about 2005 kawasaki Z 1000

Kawasaki Z1000 died while on the hwy. Now won't turn over

Going down the highway this morning and the bike just lost power. I coasted to the gas station and turned everything off. Gave it about 20 minutes and tried to turn it over. No luck. Checked battery-it'll arc. No noises and was running just fine. Can anyone give me some starting points to check? (No motorcycle repair experience)

Unfortunately without any repair experience this may be too much for your first time out. You have a fuel injected bike, while your battery may have power you really need to ascertain if you are getting spark to the plugs, then check if you are getting fuel. These are the first steps to isolate the problem even further you would need the results of these checks.

Left bike on at work..battery died, bought new battery "ready start" still no power

Hi, Ramessu and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Faulty starter button/switch.
6. Faulty jiffy stand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
7. Security alarm needs a reset.
8. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
9. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
10. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

2004 Kawasaki z1000 will not start

Hi, Artis23manni and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. The fuel tank has old dead gas.
3. Fuel tank bottom contaminated with ethanol sludge, dirt, water, rust, etc.
4. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
5. Fouled spark plugs.
6. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enrichner.
7. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
8. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
9. Fuel line to carburetor or throttle body pinched, kinked or blocked.
10. Carburetor float stuck.
11. Fuel injectors clogged.
12. Fuel injectors stuck open.
13. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a cursory reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
14. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
15. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil or plug between ignition sensor and ECM module.
16. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting check for spark leakage in the dark, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
17. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or MAP, CMP, CKP, O2, TPS, ETP, IAC sensors.
18. Faulty neutral, clutch lever, or kickstand safety switch.
19. Faulty fuel pump or fuse or relay.
20. A stuck bent or burnt valve.
21. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
22. Security system not disarming alarm needs a reset.
23. Check for engine trouble codes.

Bike runs good but after about 45 min of riding it

hello there:
try turning you're spit **** to reserve and see if still does the same thing if so you're more than likely looking at needing to replace the vale adjusting pads this will cause the problem of not running right i had same problem with a 1998 Kawasaki after the adjusting pads were flat-end out... so this should solve the problem best of luck to you sincerely D Jones

Honda shadow ACE 750 dies on idle after warmed up and choke returns. Cleaded carbs no change. Never had a problem with the bike since 2002. problem started after about 2 months without riding. Checked in...

I guess you will have to reset the air-mixture screws of the carburator/s.
Not bad if you check the condition of the spark plugs...if its ..'Whitish' means lean i.e. less gas in, Brownish...means ok, 'Blackish'...means too much gas in .....'rich'
In your bike's case you may find it 'whitish'.

1981 kawasaki 750 ltd bike was working and had power and started fine. went on the highway and bike lost all power and shut down on its own.

make sure it has the proper grade of gas. and make sure the petcock isn't plugged, they have a filter attached to it inside the tank. pretty much make sure its getting enough fuel
