Question about 1990 Honda CBR 600 F(1)L

2 Answers

My CBR 600 fl 1990 runs fine then cuts out after 1-20 miles.

Ive been through all the forums with similar issues which are;
The bike starts and then runs ok for a distance..could be a mile or 20 miles but dies comletely with zero throttle response.
I have removed and cleaned out tank (a fair bit of rust in there).
Removed carbs and cleaned out completely.
Changed inline filter.
Disconnected and cleaned electrical connections from ECU forward to battery.
Removed and cleaned fuel pump contacts.
Where I am now is looking at the inline fuel filter once the bike has died, while trying to start the bike I can see a bit of air in the filter, about 3/4 full of fuel, and it doesn't change. As soon as I see burbling in the filter then the bike starts and the filter rapidly completely fills up.
I'm thinking that i'll tap into the fuel pump power and check its getting a voltage when the bike wont start..any help would be appreciate...Ta Galby.

I think the gas cap should be vented. Is it possible the vent is not working and the tank is forming a vaccuum stopping the fuel flow?Maybe try riding with the cap part way open with only enough fuel in the tank for the test.(So no fuel splashes out).
I read your problem and saw "any help would be appreciated" and this popped in my mind about the vent.
I hope this helps.

CBR 600F cuts out when given throttle

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
2. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
3. Air fuel mixture adjustment too lean.
4. Pilot/slow fuel jet clogged.
5. Faulty accelerator pump.
6. Float level too low.
7. Float bowl contaminated old fuel, water, dirt, rust, etc.
8. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
9. Fuel line to carburetor kinked or pinched.
10. Fuel filter clogged.
11. Intake manifold leak.
12. The gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.
13. Vacuum line from intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged.
14. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl.
15. Multi carburetors not in sync.
16. Faulty fuel pump.

Hi my honda cbr 600 fl 1991 the bike pulls great

im not sure if this model has a fuel pump but follow your fuel line and see if it does wen u find it remove black plastic cap and check the points contact breakers are in good conditon ie not worn uneven or worn out and that they open and close.check your air filter spark plugs and your carbs could have a blocked jet so get them cleaned and balanced.

Idicators dont work on left side of bike

IF the bulbs are good, you have lost power or ground to one or both left bulbs. Use a voltmeter to check for 12vdc at the plugs with bulbs removed, switch on left blinker engaged. Then use the meter on the ohms position, with key OFF,  and see if you have a circuit  from the ground wire end in the bulb socket to a good frame ground on the bike. You probably have a loose, dirty, or corroded ground circuit somewhere.

Engine cuts out

I had a similar problem with my Honda XR. Turned out to be the Ignition Control module. The unit is probably sealed and unable to inspect. I figured it out by hitting it while the motor was running and it would cut out.
