Question about 2001 Ducati 996 S
Not sure about the present 996 but I had a Hailwood rep' way back in the 80s and the same problem was due to the ignition sensors ( hall effect type ) not being set at the correct clearance from the rotor. You need a special tool to set this since it's burried inside the casing and you can't get a normal feeler guge anywhere near it
