SOURCE: need to know if im shifting it right

letting up on the gas is ussualy a good idea because it allows the rpms to closer match the trannys. haveing said that there is speed shifting in which you barely bump the clutch and quickly hit the next gear. this takes a little practice and a good ear.

Check for water in the float bowl. Condensation in the tank can build up in the carb. Check functionality of kill switches as well.

Low vacuum (suction) can be caused by poor or low compression, leaking valves, blocked exhaust. Doing a compression check should tell you which item is causing the problem.
