SOURCE: honda cb1 non starting

I left mine parked up for 5 weeks (in freezing conditions) and had the same problem. Battery went flat trying to start it. I jumped it off the car battery but it took about 15 minutes to get going (give the starter motor a break from time to time so it does not burn out). If you left it out in the cold for ages this might work otherwise I dont know. My bikes running fine now since I got it going.

SOURCE: how is the coils connection, in wich order must be

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Basically, seated on the bike, the left coil goes to cylinders 1 & 4, while the right ignition coil goes to 2 & 3. Both coils have 1 terminal that goes to the IGN + 12, while the other would go to the CDI unit. The IGN +12 wires to both coils would have the same color.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

No spark Honda CB-1

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty pulse coil.
8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
9. Faulty ignition switch.
10. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
11. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

For and MC22, seated on the bike, the left hand ignition coil fires cylinders 1 & 4 while right hand ignition coil powers 2 & 3 cylinders.

Hi, I'm having a go at restoring a CB1. However, I'm getting no spark. The motor is turning over but no spark is visible. Any ideas to solve would be appriciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To my understanding, there are several interlocks that have to be factored in for the Spark Unit (CDI/Igniter) to work when cranking:
  • sidestand switch;
  • clutch switch;
  • engine stop switch.
Try to check, clean, or temporarily bypass as may be necessary to test CDI. Additionally, check:
  • one terminal of the ignition coil has an IGN +12; while
  • the other terminal should have a pulsating voltage when cranking.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
