Question about 1995 Suzuki GSX 750 F (Katana)

1 Answer

1995 750 Katana will not stay running

1995 750 Katana starts up ok, revs up fine for a few minutes, then just stops running. Unable to start again unless you let it sit for an hour. Have taken carbs apart 3 x and cleaned/ installed new jets (stock) and adjusted all carbs to stock specs. Frustrated. Electrical issue or fuel issue?

Did you try the fuel petcock on the bottom of the tank? If not, pull it out and check the fuel filter on the top of it. If it won't start because of no fuel, that maybe the problem or it could just be a vaccum leak. Check the tubes for leaks or just replace them, they are cheap. If it isn't starting because it floods out from to much fuel, then it might just need a new petcock. How did the diaphrams on the top end of the carb look?

sounds to be symptomatic of a CTS (coolant temperature sensor). there are two, one is for the interior temp gauge, the other is for the ECU/PCM while both are basicalty the same part, often even the same P/N, they both do extremely different things.

run the fault codes and check for an EVAP venting problem
could be the valve or the solenoid to control the valve
indicates that the fuel pump is having trouble pulling fuel against th vacuum in the tank from a vent problem

When I start the car it stays at 2000rpm for a few moments then drops down. I'll drive for a few minutes then put it in park and it revs up and down.

Saw will start. runs a little sluggish at first. then it will smooth out and rev high and run strong for a few minutes then gets sluggish again and dies. will not start again for 5 to 7 minutes minimum....

Being springtime, I'm thinking you may have had your saw sitting all winter with last years gas in it. If so, you'll need to clean the carburator and spark plug real good, then put fresh gas in it. Always remember to run your saw out of gas before putting it away. Gas only stays fresh for a few weeks and will foul up your sparkplug as well as plug up the inside of your carb when it gets stale.

Four stoke mower. Mower starts and runs ok but after a short time (10-15 minutes) the engine stops as though it has run out of fuel. Fuel tap on, filter clean, new spark plug. After a few minutes you can...

Your ignition coil is failing when it gets hot.make sure the cooling fins on the flywheel are not plugged up.you will probably have to replace the coil.

Sounds like censor issues. Have diagnostics run on the vehicle to find the culprit.

Ok, check breather hoses and vac pipes are on tight and not cracked and drawing in air. do you have wd40? Little trick is to spray around the inlet manifold rubbers, if engine smoothes out or revs slightly then this could be an indication of leaking manifold gaskets. taking note of where you spray it and any engine change can direct you to the problem.
