There is an oil leak around the bolts that hold in the top exhaust pipe where connects. I am new to the bike but know previous owner and they tell me there has never been an issue. The bike has sat for...

Hello,

The oil you are seeing may very well be from the bike sitting. I have worked on many bikes that have had similar problems. The oil bypasses the rings and gets forced out the top of the cylinder. Once the bike has been used for a couple of days, sometimes a few days longer, the rings expand sealing the cylinder and thus no more oil. It would be a good idea to examine the cylinder bolts too to make sure that the oil is not leaking from the cylinder head.

When a bike, or any motorized vehicle or tool, sits for an extended period of time, parts that are supposed to be lubricated by the motor running will dry out or shrink. This can cause a decrease in engine life and costly repairs. Always try to start your bike, even if you don't ride it, and let it run through the warm up procedure everyday.

Even if the oil leak stops on your bike, you should still have the exhaust leak fixed. Grab the exhaust pipe, when cool :o), and see if you can feel any slack by pulling on it. I would spray a penetrating oil on the bolts, let it sit overnight, and then try to tighten, or replace, them yourself.

Regards,

Oz

1994 suzuki 750 . do i check oil through looking glass with motor running or off ?

Balance the bike to a level position while looking at the oil glass, with the engine off. Bottom of glass is low, top of glass is full, no oil in glass, top it off, not quite a qt. Use high quality motor cycle full synthetic 5w 30. Hope this helps.

My Honda xr125 has a blown cylinder head gasket. how do i change it and will i need a torque wrench?

You would benefit from purchasing a service manual for your bike, as it should have detailed directions and information on the repair you need. Yes you will need a torque wrench, if this is your first "big" repair, please get a manual and follow the directions closely, otherwise you could do additional damage to the motor. Hope this helps and good luck.

Oil pressure

Your Bike is a dry sump system oiling system which simply means that the motor needs to be revved up to get oil to the top of the motor. The readings that you see are actually normal (look closely at the gage and you'll see that you are actually are around 5psi at idle and in the 30psi range while moving). Great Bike!
Also you might want to checkout the free website for harley owners www.hdforums.com for insight on your bike.
Be safe!

Oil filter change where is it and how to replace

It doesn't have a proper oil filter, for this reason you have to change the oil regularly (every 1000 to 2000 miles).

For information on how to change the oil try this link:

http://hondacg125.awardspace.com/

The honda xr125 and honda cg125 have the same engine. I have changed the oil several times on my xr125 and I can confirm that you follow the same procedure for both bikes. There is also an oil change demo on youtube for the cg125:

More oil to my bike

with the dip stick unscrewed and resting on the top of the fill hole. Kinda curious about what to do. Thanks all.Was that with or without the filter change? It's possible that you are checking the spec for not having changed the filter. A fresh filter will require more oil. My $.02 - If it's in the marks, it's good to go.,,,
