Question about 1985 kawasaki Z 650

1 Answer

Will not stay idling and have to use ether on air

I am going to buy at 1985 kawasaki ninja from a guy in the neighborhood and he can get it started when he sprays ether on the air breather but as soon as he lets off of the gas it will die and you have to respray to start it up again. He said he cleaned the whole tank and cleaned the carbs on it then blew everything out with an air hose. When he had it hooked up to a different gas source he said it ran fine, but i never saw that side of it. What do you think?

Sounds like the carbs float chamber is low in gas!
Blowing everything out of the carbs is fine , but thn to reset and tune up is another question...involving valve clearance, spark plugs conditions /gap. Setting the air-mixture screw...
Can also be tht it has low compression on the cylinders.
Worth a try to tht other source of gas hook up whilst you there yourself.
Hope this helps!

Why my 2001 kawasaki ninja zx6 die when i start slowing down? then i have to stop and start it again

Just a thought, if you are running ethanol fuel it will lower the bikes idle speed. If you run no ethanol fuel your idle speed will go up. Turn your idle screw to raise the idle . Hopefully , your problem is just that simple.

Just check on your air ducts. When the bike is staionery it will idle rev and even run well on the dyno, but on the open road the airducts must be in and instadled or mounted correctly

Kawasaki ninja er250

You could have a blocked main jet .When starting from cold your engine runs on an idle jet & choke .with very little air .When engine is warm ,there is no need for choke .and your main jet will supply your engines fuel & air ,however if the jet is blocked or there is no air supply like a dirty air cleaner unit .then there is a good chance thats your problem .One quick way of checking this is to try and start without choke and see if your plugs are wet .Then whle plugs are out test the spark by placing them on the engine .and turning the engine over .
