Adjust and if needed, clean the carb. If fuel injected, turn up idle or let computer adjust itself which it will eventually do through time.

2001 chevy malibu idles anywhere from 1500-2500 rpm then sputters and dies while driving.

I had the same problem ,it was the air fillter in wrong and blocking 1/2 the carb opening. Check your air box

Mine was doing that also.. We changed the two EGR valves, changed spark plugs and wires, and finally cleaned the Mass Air flow Sensor with carburetor cleaner. That seemed to helped the most. You have to take the sensor off to do it.. you can find a youtube video that explains it. Now all I have to do is figure out why my car's RPM's surge when slowing down.

I have a 2005 Honda Rebel. It has been sitting for over a year. It wouldn't start when I tried it. New gas and still wouldn't start. Cleaned carb, found float was stuck. Now it starts but it is real...


Have you check the air box (air filter element)?
How's the spark plugs are they good?
Did you upset any of the jets/needles in the carb when cleaning out?
Good?

2003 BMW K1200LTE idles fine but surges mid range


Check throttle and choke controls are not sticky and air filter. If this is the injected engine the high pressure system seems at fault, you could try an injector cleaner additive that removes gum. consistent warm running suggests not a major problem

Choke problem


The answer is a carburetor cleaning. Todays gas is tough on these motorcycles with small carburetors. The ethol attracts water like a sponge and rusts out your carb.
Take it to a Honda shop and tell them to clean the carb, bike will be back to new once its done. As for your flat spot, there's an enrichment screw right in front of the carburetor bowl. Its tabbed so that your limited on adjusting it. If you take a dremel and are very careful you can grind down the tab so that you can turn it all the way around. I've found that once this is done if you turn it all the way in so its litely seated then then turn it back out about 2 and 1/2 times this should get rid of that flat spot.

Cold Start Idle Issue


Problem might be the air control valve, it's located at the right side rear of intake manifold and has a hose going to the air intake duct from the air cleaner, as a test you might try pinching off that hose when the idle is a problem.
