the valve was good 300 mile ago when the engine was rebuilt so sould be good now.the boot between the carbs and blocks are good and the exhaust is tight on also.

Could be a crack in the boot between the carb and the head. this cracks usually from back firing. also check the exhaust flange to ensure that it is tight. Have you checked the valve clearances lately.

Could be the carb needs to be redone, you can purchace a kit comes with needle an seat valves and all the o-rings required, I would recommend doing this. also give your air intake filter a good cleaning and I would throughly check over the carb boot as well , while you have the carb off to ensure that there is no air leaks.

1990 Suzuki RGV 250 L fuel pump not priming

The noise it was making was probably the fuel pump. Check for a burnt fuse or bad relay.

Cruises fine for 30 minutes then starts to lose power and backfir

Check the fuel system, see if you have a clogged filter or sock (behind the pet-****). You can also check the plugs too. They should be around 7k OHMS. Either your loosing spark or fuel.

I assume this is kick start only, and by now your right leg is twice the size of your left one ! correct? If you can't find a long nearby hill, get a trusted buddy to pull your bike w/ another bike or car/truck. Attch rope to bottom triple clamp and don't go over 20 mph, use 2nd gear...this may sound risky but i have done it many times and find that nothing clears out an engine faster !...Good Luck to you friend...Tim
