Question about 2000 Honda GL 1500 SE Gold Wing

2000 Gl1500se Goldwing 83,000 engine miss

2000 Gl1500se Goldwing 83,000 miles has developed a slight miss. New plugs didn't help. The old plugs looked clean with a thin white deposit. I do most the maint, but I think I'll take it in for this one since it's probably electrical.

I took it in and they balanced the carbs, which changed nothing. I installed a new battery.

Testimonial: "Thanks the plug wires look good, but the people with stuff to check that will just change them. I just wondered if there was usual suspect on 1500's."

I have a 2002 Chevy Tracker. Lately it's developed a serious miss, almost as if you turn the key off while it's running. Almost immediately it catches back up again. I don't get backfiring. I'm trying...

Maybe its time for new spark plug,,, this is an inexpensive refresh and something the mechanic will do if he starts troubleshooting the engine miss. While you are installing the new spark plugs, give your spark plug wires a CLOSE VISUAL inspection for burns, cracks, or other defects that would cause a misfire..Once you have replaced the spark plugs..checked the wires, ..and if the miss is still there, its time for a qualified professional to look at it.. they will hook it to a diagnostic machine and tell you what happening... good luck..... and no, it hasn't "slipped timing"..

I bought a 1997 Mercury Cougar about 5 months ago. The Cougar only has 83,000 miles on it. Since buying it I have had the oil changed, the transmission flushed. I have also had all 4 o2 sensors replaced...

By your description, I tend to agree with fuel pump issue. Could be something as simple as a connection on the pump -loose ground and/or power wire or an intermittent pump. At 83,00 that's far from being "over the hill" Also just a thought, converter(s) might be clogged and would give similar symptoms.

It's using oil like crazy all of a sudden. 83,000

Check oilgetsettlement.com
There was a classaction lawsuit against Toyota for this. People properly maintained their cars but the engine's design causes the oil to get.
You can make Toyota pay to rebuild your engine.

My 2000 ford excursion 5.4 v8 gas has a problem at idle every time i come to a stop the idle remains at 1300 rpm for about 2mins then slowly returns to 7000 rpm also has slight miss on accell

Ethanol gas syndrome/ buy a can of SEAFOAM(parts store). change out the fuel filter. add SEAFOAM to full tank of PREMIUM gas. let it idle(even if you have to make it by acceleration in park)/ drive 10 miles, replace fuel filter again at 500 miles. add can of SEAFOAM every 3-5000 miles, and it will clean fuel, emission, and engine valves.<p>
ethanol produces a goop(like choc milk) and creates water in the system/ It causes carbon build up and even affects injectors. If you will try this, it will help prevent costly repairs/ cost 8-9 dollars for the SF. whole lot cheaper than an engine job. good luck.

Check the 5amp fuse on the bottom of your fuse block. My 96 did the same thing. The fuse is labeled backup.

Is the check engine light on? Have it scanned. Autozone will do it for free. This will tell you which cylinder is the problem. One of the new plugs is likely cracked.

Engine miss at 45-55mph, no accleration with throttle response,

Anytime a bike sits for that long you stand a chance of fuel system problems. It sounds like you may need to "boil out" the carburetors and of course resynchronize them with vacuum gauges when you put it back together. You can also use a mercury manometer for synching the carbs. My guess is you have varnish still in the float bowls that is causing erratic running and perhaps the vacuum operated slides are not working correctly.
