Shuts off spits and sputters

2003 road king classic stalls at stop lights right before it stalls the bike will iddle automatically up just a bit ,i give it gas to keep it from shutting off . going down the highway about 70 mph bike run goods until i let up on throttle the the bike spits and sputtters for a few seconds then runs good up till i slow down again. The bike seems to runs better when the outside temps are 50 deg rather than 70 deg.

Check for vacume leaks first. Rubber lines..gaskets to carbs ect. Also remove and blow out your fuel line to tank and change out filter. Hope this helps.:)

My 2003 Road king classic stalls taking off..

hi there this sounds like the timing is off but it sounds like you have already considered this the most common problem with this and hi idleling sounds like you have a major air leak from a gasket leading into your motor check by spraying a aerostart around the joining area of your carby if the motor speeds up then you will spot your problem but if your bike motor is red hot do not spray this ether based spray as you might need a paint job as well just kidding ,but without doing this test i am still confident that you have a air leak cheers hope this helps

2007 Road King Classic stalls unexpectedly when driving...no sputtering, just shuts down...starts back up whether stationary or driving...but no warning about cut off

Will the bike start up without turning off? If you have to turn ignition off then on again before it will start it may be the bank angle sensor gone faulty. This will set NO error codes in memory as it is NOT a recognised fault. ECU simply thinks bike has fallen over and shuts engine down.

2003 road king speedometer stopped working & the mileage isn't changing either

Check to see if there is any back lighting.

Pull the speed sensor from the transmission case and if there are any metal filings on it clean them off and replace it. If there are not filings you may need to replace the sensor. The speedometer head itself or wiring conneftors could be the porblem as well.

2002 road king classic keeps stalling when i come to a stop and there is some backfire as well . when i first start up the bike it will idle .

If your bike is fuel injected, there is nothing you can do. You must take it to a shop and let them set the idle speed. If it's equipped with a carb, remove the air cleaner cover and look at the square top on the carb. Just to the right of that cover is a screw, the throttle stop screw. Turn this screw clockwise to increase the idle speed. It should idle at about 1000 RPM.

Last night on the ride home, the speedometer was reading twice the speed I was going. When stopped, it went to zero, but at 50 mph, it read 100 mph. I think I know how to remove the center console so I...

I'd pull the speedometer sensor out of the transmission and wipe it off. Sometimes, a bit of metal will get on the sensor and mess it up. If that doesn't work, I really don't know what to tell you as I don't mess with the electronics on the newer bikes.

2003 HD Road King - starts fine, idle normal. Once it is warm, idles at 2000 rpm. Does not come back down, even after riding for an hour or two. Only idles normal when cold. Help??

If you bike is equipped with a carburetor, the idle stop screw is located at the top of the carb on the right side. Counterclockwise turn slows the idle speed.

If you bike is fuel injected, a dealer or shop will have to set the idle speed electronically.

Harley won't start.

A harley AGM battery are usaully good for three to five years the best thing to do is have the battery load tested. Now as far as your problem now depending on the batterys state of charge the solenoid will click or not.Because you store it alot you should keep a trickle charger on the battery

06 Road King Classice shuts off when in 4th gear beloe 50mph

It's normal for the check engine light to take from 0 to a couple seconds to turn off. The computer runs a system check. Put an oil pressure gauge on the bike and watch it closely. If your pressure drops when the bike loses power, the engine may be locking up from lack of oil. Another possibility is your lean-angle cut-off switch is defective. The switch cuts power to the bike in case you lay it down. Harley also has had problems with their fuel injection system losing power for no apparent reason.
