am also facing the same trouble... when i surfed the net, i came across a suggestion as to do compression test. that will clearly spot the problem... wonder if this compression test is done only in authorized service centers or so....

White smoke come out in my bike in yamaha fzs

Hi, Anonymous your instrument gauges and lights can alert you to most electrical and engine issues they can not warn you about failed engine gaskets or seals so your engine has to resort to old fashion alert methods of colored "SMOKE SIGNALS" here is a breakdown of their meaning:
1. COLORLESS OR SLIGHTLY BLUE SMOKE on start-up means your air/fuel mixture is at the right composition and everything is well burnt in your combustion chamber.
2. BLUE SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by failed valve seals dripping oil into the combustion chamber when the engine is not running.
3. YELLOW OR BROWNISH SMOKE at start-up means your air/fuel mixture is too lean. Too lean means that there is low fuel but high air mixture in your combustion chamber.
4. WHITE SMOKE on start-up may be caused by a blown head gasket allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber and may start dripping out of the exhaust pipes or mufflers. Smoke while riding is usually caused by worn out or damaged valves, seals, guides, pistons, rings, or cylinder walls.
5. BLACK SMOKE on start-up is usually caused by too much fuel in the combustion chamber this can be due to air/fuel mixture adjustment too rich, accelerator pump improperly adjusted, faulty choke/enrichner or not in the off position, air filter dirty and clogged, faulty carburetor float needle and seat, pilot jet too large, fuel injectors leaking, smoke while riding is usually caused by the main jet being too large or a damaged carburetor.
It should be noted that aggressive or abnormal throttle operation will cause these conditions to manifest themselves exponentially.

My Hero Honda Glamour (2008 byke without disk brake)is emmiting white smoke.

That seems a big job, did he say how much he will charge to do it?

I think, unless you are an engineer you will need a manual to do a job like that, although you may find one somewhere on the Internet, if I were to attempt that I would prefer to have a paper one, I could refer to as I went along.

Pop noise with thick white smoke from front end,

sounds like you might have a cracked cylinder and oil puddled up inside over night and when you started it..it blew out through the exhaust. White smoke means oil...black smoke means gas ,and blue smoke means both..if you cracked a water jacket your oil will look like a bubbly milk shake.....take a look at your oil.

74' TX500, High idle and White smoke from breather tube

When the carb was rebuilt it was only bench tuned. It is always wise to tune them once installed. the smoke may stop after the carbs are adjusted. However white or light colored smoke is always an indication of oil. It sounds like you may have a small leak. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Whaite smoke at idle

honest advice. I recently obtained a 1984 RR 250. It has 19000 on the clock. I replaced all the obvious components like battery plugs oil filter, sealed tank, cleaned petcock. It starts up and runs smooth too. My problem is this..... ... Whenever I start the bike, especially after its been sitting (say overnight) and even more so when Its colder outside, it releases a grayish white smoke from the exhaust. It almost smells like an old gokart or something. It will eventually dissipate, but i can still see faint smoke. Usually if its colder outside, it hardly goes away at all. So what gives?? Is it bad valve stems? Bad head gasket? Cracked valve head? Bad piston rings? Im really stumped, and I would like to fix this myself (even though ive never been inside of an engine but I learn fast! especially being a biochem major!). Id rather not get the shaft from the two local stealerships/mechanics. IF anyone has any knowledge of or experience with this problem I would appreciate any input you may have. Thanks very much,It's normal for white smoke to appear out the exhaust in colder temps - there is a small amount of water present in gas that gets burned in the combustion process and is released as vapur, or white smoke, out the tailpipe. Other causes of white smoke are blown head gaskets on liquid cooled bikes - but as yours is air cooled, this obviously isn't the problem. Next time this happens, check the outlet of the muffler closely... if you see lots of water droplets coming out with the smoke then I'd suspect cheap too low octane of a fuel. Try a higher octane to see of the problem goes away. White smoke can also be caused by unburnt fuel. If a spark plug is erratic in operation (ie: misfiring) it can fail to ignite the fuel/air mixture in the cylinder under compression forces and shoot it out the exhaust valve as white smoke. One other cause is the engine running too lean. As your bike is fairly old, I'd check the condition of the carb rubber intake boots. If they are cracked, this can allow air to get sucked in and lean out the mixture, causing white smoke. Another clue to a lean engine is that it will run very hot and the headers/exhaust pipes will turn a deep blue.,,,
