Do the clutch plate have an install order?

Dual-Sport Motorcycles
  • The term "dual-sport" describes a motorcycle designed for both off-road and legal on-road use. Sometimes also referred to as "dual-purpose" or simply "dually" bikes, dual-sport models are essentially dirt bikes in design, featuring high-travel front and rear suspensions, wide handlebars and knobby tires. They are different from entirely off-road bikes, however, in that they have equipment necessary for road-use registration, such as front and rear lights, a brake light, one to two mirrors, a speedometer and a fixed mounting point for a license plate. Often, their mufflers are more effective in reducing engine noise than their off-road cousins, to meet EPA-mandated emissions standards.
NX650
  • The Honda NX650 Dominator was the largest in a range that also featured 125, 250, 350, 400 and 500 cc versions. The 644 cc single-cylinder, SOHC, four-stroke air-cooled engine produced 44 horsepower and was mated with a five-speed transmission that took it to 105 mph on open pavement. Yielding an average 50 mpg, the standard 4.25-gallon fuel tank gave the machine a range of 165 miles before hitting reserve, entirely sufficient for most off-road forays. The bike weighed 370 pounds dry, and had a 34-inch-high seat -- the riding position was both comfortable and commanding.

How do i pull the clutch assembly on a 84 fxrs

Disconnect the battery. Drain the primary oil and remove the outer primary cover. Remove the four bolts that hold the clutch spring in. Remove the clutch spring and pressure plate. Then, you can remove the friction and steel plates. If you want to remove the entire clutch assembly, you'll have to remove the nut from the transmission mainshaft and remove the sprocket shaft nut. The mainshaft nut that holds the clutch assembly on has LEFT-HANDED THREADS. Once you get the nut off, you'll need a clutch puller to get the clutch assembly off the tapered transmission mainshaft. Get one of the pullers that screw onto the mainshaft and you rap it with a hammer. You do not have to disassemble the clutch assembly completely to remove it from the mainshaft. You can take it off as a unit by removing the snap ring in the center and removing the adjuster plate. Remove the sprocket shaft nut, the chain adjuster nut, and the mainshaft nut and remove the engine sprocket, primary chain and clutch assembly all together.

We just had to change the clutch cable on a honda 125 cr 2005. as the clutch cable is internal we had to remove the clutch plate. there is no obvious oil in there. should it have oil inside the clutch...

NO, they use a dry clutch, sometimes referred to a Dry Sump Clutch. The friction of the discs is what makes the clutch work, if there was oil in there the clutch would no longer function.

How do i know i need a new clutch and clutch basket in my 2002 cr 125

Clutch friction plates are often the worn out component of that assembly. IF the plates don't spline in correctly with the basket due to some physical damage, then you should replace the basket. The clutch is comprised of an inner and outer hub that become interlocked through metal disks and friction disks pressed together under spring pressure.

How do I replace the throttle cable of the Honda nxr 125 bros

Remove the seat, tank, and airbox. Follow throttle cable from the grip to the carbs seeing which way it is routed. Unscrew throttle housing and note which way the cable goes. Make sure when you replace the cable there is free play in the cable. Do not make the cable tight. Give slack in the throttle. Tighten. Twist throttle 10 times to make sure that there is no binding and a good snap! Chaz Moto DC

Clutch slipping

Clutch plates are probably toasted. Drain the oil, remove the cover where the clutch cable goes into and check them out. Not hard to replace but you do need a special tool to get the plates off/on.
