It is a simple system ...

there is a storage area (battery)
there is manufacturing (an alternator probably with an integral voltage regulator)
and a processing plant (a rectifier)

The first thing I would check would be the rectifier - they are the weak link in a charging system. The diodes in a rectifier will pass electricity in one direction only. If you check with either a ohm meter or a d battery with a dmall flashlight lamp - one direction will light or be "short" and the other way will not llight or be 'open'. It is possible that 1/2 or all of your rectifier is dead.

And of course, a purist will tell you you must have power to make power, and that is true. To get power from an alternator, you must put power in (to energize the coils) If your battery is dead, you cannot charge it.
I hope this helps

first of all check for at least 12 volts from the battery and the charger, you can test this using a multimeter, if the battery doesn't show any volts, lift up one side of the blue plastic housing on the top and verify that both the positive and negative wires are plugged in

Check "under the hood" to make sure all connections are tightly connected. I bought the girl version of this and one of the cords had come undone. If that doesn't work go to your local batteries plus and see if they can test out your battery to be sure its a working battery.

Battery doesn"t charge

I don't see how this is related to the float?
With the engine running, measure output voltage from the alternator/charger at the battery. It should be about 13.5 vDC. It should increase a little bit with higher revs. If voltage doesn't change with engine running vs. engine off then you probably have a bad alternator which probablly has to be replaced or repaired by a service shop.

Not working even with a fully charged battery. I think it's a wiring problem.
