Sounds like your relay from your starter or your plug wires might be out. Or your plugs might need to be changed or calibrated right to continue running.

Have power when turned on, but it will not start. Fuses (all ok), battery (ok), starter (ok), but when start button is pushed there's nothing. Starter relay is good (?) Couldn't locate rectifier.

Could be the starter button itself or the kill switch.
Make sure the kill switch is in the run position, turn on the ignition and get everything ready to fire the engine up. Follow the black cable from the battery and locate your starter solenoid. There should be an in and out to it, the cable from your battery will be bolted to the in and right next to it is another cable bolted the same way to the out. Take a screwdriver and short across these 2 connection posts and it should fire up. If it starts, then I would suspect the starter button is at fault. If it doesn't then I would suspect the kill switch. When shorting across, only do it for a very short time and don't let the screwdriver touch the frame. This isn't the only way and it doesn't definitely mean that it is the cause, but it is a good indicator.

Push starter button it won't turn over

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Faulty ignition switch.
6. Faulty starter button.
7. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
8. Security alarm needs a reset.
9. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
10. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
11. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

It could be the starter, but I would check battery connections and voltage. When you turn the key on, there may be enough power to turn the lights on, but not enough power when the starter switch is engaged. Also, you

Oil light does not come on as check with ignition on but lights up as starter turns then off when engine fires ?

That sounds like the normal self check to prove the light works...I have a 99 Yamaha Venture and some of the warning lights test at key on and the remainder (the oil light in particuliar) while pushing the starter that once starter button is released any warning lights should be considered a real warning.

My 2001 Yamaha R1 has an issue. I put the key in and turn it on, everything lights up fine, but when I press the start button nothing happens.

If you push the starter button and hear a click the starter button is good. If you do not hear a click, put power to the two skinny solenoid activation wires(+ and -), if you hear a click now you have a bad starter button. Clean or replace the switch. Follow the positive battery cable to the solenoid, short across the battery power cable and the starter power cable. If the starter works you need a new solenoid. If you tap on the starter with a plastic hammer while holding the starter button, and it works, you need new starter brushes. If you take the starter apart and the coils are burnt or the armature is shorted you need a new starter.

When I turn on the power in my Virago 2002 XV250R

motorcycle headlights stay on at all times the bike is on, kind of like running lights on a car. on some model bikes, when you first turn on the key the headlight doesn't turn on so that there is less draw from the battery so your starter can use the current your light doesn't. but once the bike is started or the start button is pushed, the headlight will remain on until you turn the key off.

2006 yammaha r1 won't start

check the battery voltage and connections.check the starter solenoid.see if it has power to it on small wire going to it, when you press start button.(this is the box w/ 2 posts & 2 cables attatched to it)use a 12 volt test light to do this. check cable tightness.SHORTCUT-turn key on,place bike in neutral, take large screwdriver & make contact across both posts of should crank if everything else is ok. if you tested for power to the solenoid and it was present, but bike only starts w/ screwdriver trick-solenoid is bad.

Kawasaki zzr400 (1994 model),streetfighter wont start

check starter solenoid.see if getting power to starter side when pressing button .if yes check if power to starter w/ test light when pressing button.if power there check starter, also motor, will it turn manually or is it seized.if no power to starter side of solenoid, jump across solenoid posts w/ a large screwdriver -motor will probaly turn over,w/ key on.if small wire to solenoid has power when pressing start, solenoid bad,if no power, wiring or start button bad.
