Question about 2003 kawasaki KLR 250
I was given a motorcycle in not running condition. It is a 1988 Kawasaki KL250D, 4-stroke single. Someone has removed all the lights and most of the controls are broken or removed as well. The ignition switch is still in place, still wired into the harness. When they removed the lights, it looks like they simply cut the wires off the harness. The battery is gone. My problem is, it appears that they mistakenly snipped off the battery leads, as there are none to be found. Now I don't know which wires, of all the snipped ends, SHOULD have been connected to the battery.
Find your alternator ... find the wires - follow this to the rectifier (a small probably cube black box about the size of a lighter) this should be the DC supply going into your battery. It will probably run through the ignition switch. You will need a big wire going from NEG to frame (ground) and you will need a big wire going from POS to starter via a starter relay (solinoid).
There is probably a starter relay somewhere. Id say the DC output from the alternator goes to one side of that relay with other wires that get hot when you are in "run". The other side is really 'ground' though the ground MAY be switched.
Let me know if this is of any help.
