Yup. Usually this is an indicator of a bad battery connection on the ground side. Remove and thoroughly clean the battery cable and the battery terminal.. Turn on your headlightsand make sure they are bright. have someone watch them and uou go to start the engine. If the light go out, It is a connection. If it just dims it is a bad batter. good luck

Same problem, the motorcycle starts once in every 5 to 10 try.... Do I need to buy a new starter kit? any diagram of what I should change?

Yes, there is a way. Bypass the relay entirely. Jump the cable on each side of the relay. If the starter cranks, Your relay is kaput. Make sure all connctions are good before you start changing parts__ Keep me posted on your progress, it would be appreciated. _Ned__
Still doesn't crank, so I got a starter kit, changed the springs and brush set. But still clicking, tomorrow night I will try opening the flywheel (starter clutch?) to see if everything is in order.... I 'm not the most knowlegeable repair person but willing to dig in and learn... any tips are appreciated.
Hi CO7196,
- Tonight I just opened the starter clutch, everything seemed in order.
- Tested the starter independently, spins well
- When I rotate the flywheel (gear idler) it seems to rotate both ways which might be a problem.
A would have two questions (I hope pretty simple) :
First how do I check oil level when bike is on the stand or when bike is hold vertically? (there might have been way too much oil in which could cause a skip in the fly wheel I guess.)
Second the Gas "lever ****" when the arrow is pointing in the middle the gas does not flow, but what does it mean when the arrow points down or up? Which way does the gas flow?
Just to note that the starter is spinning, turns the starter clutch once every ten times... oil is clear no sign of wearing out, all teeths are there on the wheels...
What if the lights dim and you just bought a brand new battery?
