Question about 2004 Honda CBF 600

1 Answer

I thought the battery on my CBF 600 was flat, but when I jump started it, I found that as I accelerated, the lights went dim and the electrics cut out. As if something was draining all the energy from it. is it somekind of relay that's gone?

Check the voltage regulator, it is most likely draining the battery...the voltage regulator has been the culprit every time I have seen this problem.

So, why a 2 star rating? I know it is the voltage regulator that causes that problem. Are you upset because I didn't spoon-feed you on how to check the regulator or maybe I didn't just magically appear to do it for you?

Driving along lights dimmed, instrument panel died, loss of power then engine cut out & wouldn't start. Starts with a jump but when i turn key to heat glow plug, instrument panel goes mad

I assume there's a problem with alternator. Check the grounding to engine, check continuity of a positive wire between alternator and battery. the energizing voltage should be checked as well. Might be the bad connection between battery and vehicle body grounding. Diesel cars are sensitive even in a little loss of connection and rust in the connection points.

Honda CBF headlight problem. Pass light ok, dipped beam vry dim ,no main beam.Any suggestions?

I found the problem was with the starter solenoid, it need WD40 sprayed on it, as it cuts out the headlamp supply as the starter motor operates.

Electrical short

Your problem is pointing to the alternator. Since you say the alternator is only a year old, the I would check the tension on the belt (deflection should be about 1/2 an inch), and the belt itself. Your problem most likely lies in either the belt, belt tensioner (if applicable), or alternator.

2006 honda trx205 electric start will not start atv.just a clicking sound. Battery will turn om lights.

its most likley the battery if flat it may still turn the light on but there is no amps in it to turn the starter witch uses a lot of power to turn the engine over recharge the battery over night and try starting it again, or try using a good jump battery with good leads to start it, also check all the battery leads and joints for bad earths and bad joints it dont take much of a bad joint to stop it getting volts to start up on,

Bike Died - No Power

i would check if you have a short somewhere.....but first make sure your battery connections are tight....gauges turning off and on while riding is usually a sign of a loose connection meaning you hit a bump or something and it briefly clips out...did the bike actually turn off??? i dunno....but that seems to be a very odd problem....take out the battery, put it on a trickle and let it charge to full cap....then reconnect making sure the terminal connections are secure and see what happens.... if that works, we''ll have to start diagnosing further, but like they always say, check the obvious first !
