Bike's been sitting most of the summer. Have no acceleration or power.

Hi, Scott if your bike has been idle for months or years and does not want to start or runs poorly you will have to deal with a few remedies:
1. Drain and flush fuel tank, google " how to clean a motorcycle gas tank" find a couple forums to view the different options available.
2. Remove your air cleaner and clean and re-oil per Mfg. specifications.
3. Remove the carburetor, disassemble and decontaminate with a carb dip or if you have EFI remove injectors and clean with carb spray and compressed air
4. Remove fuel valve and filter disassemble and clean as necessary, remove fuel lines and replace with new ones.
5. Replace spark plug with a new one and check for spark.

Farmall Super A, rebuilt carburator, cleaned tank and lines but will not run smoothly unless choke is pulled out at least 3/4. Any suggestions?

You have an obstruction in the main jet circuit of your carburetor. That is why you need to choke it - give it gas.

My bajaj kawasaki eliminator 175 cc 2001 model, carburator problem, it doesn't stay idle with start on, and choke plunger is loose, how to fix it? please help

Probably the carburator must be taken out and serviced. It is possible that the IDLING PORTS/JET in the carb. is clogged and so there is no flow of fuel. Also if the tuning of the idling air/fuel mixture is not set right the enigne will not idle properly.
You wil need to get the carburator tuned properly after cleaning and correcting the choke valve.

I have a 05' Yamaha 650 V Star and it will only run if the choke is fully out, hot or cold engine. If the choke is pushed in, it immediately dies.

Has the bike been parked for two weeks or more? If so, the fuel has most likely gummed up and plugged fuel passages and jets. Might try adding 1/2 to full can of SeaFoam to existing fuel in the tank, crank the bike and run (with choke if you have to) at a high idle for several minutes. Shut it down and let set for an hour or so allowing the SeaFoam to work. Start bike again and run at high idle again, trying to run it without the choke. If this doesn't work, then the carb probablyneeds a tear down and a manuel cleaning and reset.

I have a yamaha 650 v-star classic won't stay running with choke in.

Hi, C60stillions and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Float needle and seat sticking.
5. Float level too low.
6. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
7. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
8. Air/fuel mixture screw set too lean.
9. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
10. Slow fuel jet clogged.
11. Faulty fuel pump.

2006 kawasakin bayou 4 wheeler won't idle

If the bike idles when you appy a little choke you may have a clogged carburator. The fuel that we get now is very unstable and gums up very quickly. I would suggest cleaning the carburator and flushing the fuel out of the fuel tank. the carb is very intricalte and should be serviced by a qualified technician.
I hope that this helps,
Steve

I have a honda steed and only starts when i have the choke pulled. when i push it to the normal position or try to rev the engine, it stops

Possibly you used bad quality fuel, got water in the carburators or some piece of dirt.
1. Try getting the gas you have in the tank changed completely.
2. Cleaning the tank is also advisable.
3. With a new fill in the tank try revving the bike or even taking it for a ride with the choke in action.
4. Check the carburators.

Bike parked for 2 years, put gas in tank wont start

If you remove the fuel line and fuel runs out. You will likely have to pull the carb and clean it up, it is probibly varnished up, clean up the needle and seat, check the float adjustment.

Hope this is of some help.

My HD 05 883 wont stay on, it runs fine with choke on but

It sounds like the idle jet is clogged, if the choke is on it will continue to run however (very rich).black unspent fuel which will blacken the spark plugs and eventually foul out...take the carburator off and take it apart....there is an idle jet, blow thru it,or run a very fine wire thru it, you should be able to hold it up to the light and see the light.....same thing for the main jet...make sure the float bowl is cleaned out and install a new fuel filter.....check the gas tank for any rust..........if there is rust in the tank.....it must be cleaned and a tank sealer must be applied......there are several kits available..
