I had the same problem with mine. It can be easily fixed by installing a Barnett heavy duty spring in place of one of the stock ones. Most people will tell you not to use 2 Barnett springs because the clutch pull will be too heavy, but I used 2 Barnett springs in mine with no stock springs and it is not too bad.

I have a 1998 Suzuki bandit 1200.I'm having problems with the clutch.I think. I noticed when I would accelerate the rpm would jump 4 -5000 before the bike would respond . I let off throttle to stop rpm...

make sure there is 3mm play on the clutch lever , select 5th gear while engine is running and press the rear brake to stop you moving away ! with a little revs try and set off , if clutch is worn it will slip and not stall the engine ! if this happens then replace the clutch plates !

seems like the carburetor jets need to be cleaned, also check and make sure everything is secure, maybe the battery is wiggling to much on a turn and arcs or even could be as simple as a fuel filter clog. something to do with leveling so I would say jets

Clutch replacement on 98 suzuki 1200 bandit

all you do is drain the oil before removing the right hand engine casing the bigger one of the two then undo all the little bolts holding the small springs in place then rmove the face plate and take out the clutch plates and replace with new ones remember to put the new ones in the same order the old ones came out there should always be a friction plate between clutch plates once done put casing back and refill with new oil
hope this helps
