Question about 2005 Victory Kingpin

1 Answer

I need the size of the rear bolt that just fell out of the shift linkage on my 04 Kingpin. I am stuck until morning, but I hope to find out the bolt size and get back on the road.

Jungle, sounds like the shift cable broke or detached from shift lever/linkage. Have a good shop diagnose and estimate repair.

2003 Chevrolet Cavalier automatic won't shift to park and reverse its stuck on neutral and drive

I think it is linked to the Starter Interlock system and probably a switch on the Brake pedal lever under the dash.

There is suppose to be a safety system(check brake lights) which prevents starting the car without a foot on the Brake or without the car in Park.

Some makers may allow starting in Neutral like the old days; but the intention of the system was to prevent runaway cars from moving when the Gearshift lied about being in Park.

I know that the system had to be adjusted "referred to as timed" so that the shift linkage, Brake pedal switch and sometimes Ignition switch had to be in the right place for everything to work.

Reading your problem it is evident that part of the system was crippled for some time, and finally fell apart on you.

Possibly your shifter indicates D when it is in another gear and that the linkage is binding and preventing the correct selection of gears.

You could securely jack a rear wheel off the ground and disconnect the trans linkage. Have an assistant operate the gearshift and see if it makes sense and if it is binding. If the shifter seems okay, your only choice is to try to operate the shift lever sticking out of the trans. Engine OFF. To see if valve body in trans is rough.

Alternative is to tow it to a Repair shop for diagnosis. Notice I did not say Trans shop. You don't know if you need a Trans shop yet. So taking it somewhere where they do not install Transmissions will go further in getting only what is necessary fixed.

Please rate my info, I hope it helps.

How to move CX 650 with broken clutch cable stuck in first gear

Either the tiny shift spring under the rear cover is broken or the shift linkage gear next to it is out of position. If this is the case there is no way to put the bike in neutral without removing the engine and taking off the rear cover to fix the shift linkage ( first gear lock up can happen if the shift gear pops out of place during reassembly. Always check your shifter is working correctly before bolting down the rear cover.).
If your only problem was a broken clutch cable you could shift the bike to neutral with the motor off and push it around on it's wheels. If the problem is inside the motor and it has to be moved right away put a furniture dolly under the rear wheel and keep a block of wood handy to place under the side stand to park the bike until it can be taken off the dolly.

This morning I shifted my 2003 Chevy Venture and it stopped in reverse and then the shifter itself slipped all the way to the right towards the floor without engaging any other gears. With it stuck in...

You will need to look at the top of the trany and see if the linkage is moving or if the cable is moving to determine the problem, look under the dash while moving the shifter to see if the bracket under the dash thats bolted to column come loose, if it did not then look at trany to see if the linkage came apart at trany.

You may not have to remove the linkage but make sure to lubricate all the moving parts until they are freely moving. Although it is probably easier if the linkage is removed and work done on a bench or something.
Drain Procedure
  1. Raise and support the vehicle;
  2. Remove the drain plug and drain the fluid. 8af8970.gif
  3. NOTE: Use a new gasket on the drain plug.
    Install the drain plug.
  4. Tighten plug to 29-40 ft/lbs
Fill Procedure
  1. Park the vehicle on level ground and apply the parking brake.
  1. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector.

This sounds like the linkage that connects the shifter to the transmission has come apart or broken. Have a good look at this less expensive fix before you pin it on that very expensive transmission. Hope this helps. Good luck.

My 04 DRZ110 won't go into gear. It's stuck in nuetral!

most likely cause is that the bolt that holds the shift star to the shift drum has come loose & the shift linkage is not making contact to actuate the shift drum...order a new clutch cover gasket before attempting any repair, remove clutch cover, remove clutch basket (special tools required) clean threads on shift star bolt & threads in shift drum, reassemble with a light film of blue loctite on the bolt.
