You should see a small arrow on the knob. that should point downwards.

How do you switch fuel to reserve on a Harley davidson sportster

Hi Anonymous, if you have a carbuerator the petcock/fuel valve is located on bottom rear of the left side of the fuel tank. With the long end of the lever pointing straight back the fuel valve is in the off position and no fuel will flow to the carbuerator, with it pointing straight down the valve allows fuel flow from the gas tank to the carbuerator, with it pointing straight forward it is in reserve mode and you have roughly 1/2 to 1 gallon of fuel left in the gas tank. If you are fuel injected the is a low fuel warning light either on the dash or speedometer. If you have a fuel gauge refuel before it hits empty just like your car. Good luck and have nice day.

I have a problem trying to decide which way to turn the knob that turns on and shuts off the gas on my moped. There is an arrow at the one end of the knob but it is still confusing. Thanks.

Normally when the lever, or in your case, the arrow is horizontal the valve should be shut off. If the arrow is pointing down it indicates the direction of the fuel flow. If your moped has a reserve tank setting and the knob can go horizontal in either direction, you will have to set it in one of the directions and run the machine to see if it stops due to lack of gas. If it does not, that is the position of the reserve tank, if it does stop, that is off.

I cannot find my service manual and I'm riding my bike a lot lately. In what postion does my Reserve switch need to be in so I don't run out my reserve gas? Is it either facing down or to the right...

If you look closely, it should be written on the petcock. The lever will have an arrow on it that points to the position it is in. Since they went to the vacuum operated petcock, I don't remember which way is reserve.

Good Luck
Steve

No light behind the heating and air conditioning controls

is it a manual or auto climate system ?? I don"t remember the auto deal but..... if manual- set the fan speed to #2 position and pull the knob straight off. It might put up a fight and you might have to use both hands... no joke. When the knob is off you'll see the little bugger, it might have simply fell outta the socket

Bought a 1995 suzuki gsx600f and can't get started. does anyone know which way the petcock needs to face for reserve right, left, or down? thanks

I have a 1990 GSXR1100. If it's the same as mine, which it probably is, then as u r looking at it REServe should b to the left. RUN str8 down and PRIme on the right. The petcock has small writing on it to indicate this.
