Of course there is a battery, check the owners manual, not sure where it is on your bike but it is there.

First if the bike is kx 250 f there is no battery at all...
1:you never removed the decompressor on a bike without a starter...you are not going to be able to have a good kick to make it start...(four stroke needs a good kickstart to make it fired up)
2: valve clearance (checkout again)
3:timing...make sur you are at top death center and sprocket mark align
4: i will consider that you're carb is providing gaz

Kawazaki kdx 125 wont start

KICK HARDER TRY PULL STARTING IT..IN SECOND GEAR..DOES IT HAVE ENOUGH COMPRESSION TO START?IT SHOULD START PULLING IT...START OFF WITH NO THROTTLE THAN IF NOT STARTING CRACK THE THROTTLE SO LIGHTLY AND SHE SHOULD FIRE OFF WHILE IN GEAR BEING PULLED OF COURSE BE CARE FUL NOT TO RUN INTO. WHO EVERS PULLING YOU..USE A LONG TOW ROPE..IF YOUR NOT A SEASONDED RIDER AND KNOW YOUR BIKE VERY WELL I WOULD NOT ATTEMPT THE PULL START...IF NOT CHECK YOUR COMPRESSION AND TIMING..MAJOR VACUUM LEAK MAYBE AT BASE GASKET..IS ENGINE SUCKING TO MUCH AIR? GOOD LUCK..

Kawasaki zxr400bike been stood for a while started after a couple

Backfires may indicate that a valve is sticking open, so that you are not getting compression. I am assuming that no repairs or adjustments were done which might have messed up the timing of valves or ignition.

de decompressor as to be there....those four stroke need a good kickstart to fired ( without decompressor can broke you're kickstart pedal or hurt you badly..) i sugest you recheck valve clearance and make sure the timing is done when you are at top death center and you're exhaust cam is about to be open shortly after top death center.( that means you are in the right position to align the mark on both cam to each side of the head....also you can check out for fire problemme ( timing or firing at wrong time) you said it as fire then just put gaz into the spark plug hole (a spoon) then it should start right away or try to....then if it wont start you know carburation is not an issue because you by pass the carb by injected gaz right on top of piston...then only thing left is fire and compression...if you have all that one with care....let me know ill find away to make that things running.....impactmx@live.ca .....stephane.

Hard to start

These bike are known to 'pull the valves into the head'.
You need to do a compression test to check for leaky valves.
If the valves are sealing well, check the valve clearance.
