Question about 2004 Yamaha XT 660 R

On my 2004 yamaha 660 grizzly there is gas coming out of the overflow tube. What can i do to fix thi. my dad said that i didnt clean the carb enough and that the float is sticking but i cleaned and soaked the carb

You do have a sticking float. You can test it with the bowl off by moving the float up to shut off the fuel, and down to allow fuel to flow. Look closely at the float needle seat to make sure they aren't damaged.

sounds like your reverse sensor is bad and the cdi limits rpms while in reverse as a safety thing.

if your talking about the reverse override or the speed limiter,you will have to install an aftermarket high performance CDI unit

I have a 03 Yamaha 660 raptor one of the carbs


Did you reset (adjust)the float inthe float chamber to tht carburator which is leaking ?
You will probabley have to adjust tht float to stop from overflowing in other words we call it flooding.
Check the float pin of wear at the tip.

Backfiring is usually a result of the timing being incorrect, this can also be a result of a bad valve.

A lot of gas coming out of the carb. overflow tube, eng on or off


the float pin is stuck or has some dirt in it. try tapping the side of the float bowl(s) with the handle of a screwdriver... not hard enough to break it. if that doesn't work you will likely have to take the carb apart and clean it.
