If your stock engine ground strap is missing, you can install a nice big braided one between any good heavy engine bolt and the frame. As to no start, check fuel pressure with gauge, check for spark at plugs and ask again with this new info.
hi. i have a renault espace that not start. i make the card in and only windows can i open. nothing else. i change the plastic of card reader and the same
With great difficulty to be honest ,try changing the starter motor just for fun now the water bottle is behind the front bumper so take out the inner plastic wheel arch ,try doing anything to a renault modus even giving a jump start will make the power steering motor lose its memory and then its a 600euro job to get it sorted and renault garage will insist on a new one then programming adding up to well over a 1000euros .My favourite make of vehicle a renault ? i think not come back the ford cortina or a humber hawk
change the ignition contact switch on the back of the ignition lock by the sound of it ,its renault espace one of the pains in my life ,have two customers with these headache machines and a er indoors the third headache .Ever tried getting parts for them from renault now thats another headache over 10 yrs old they do not sell spares
it sounds more like the drive shaft is loose.that would be the jumping you feel. a cv joint clicks etc but it wont thump like that you might have the drive axle looked at
sounds like the dreaded renault immobiliser ,in which case its dealer only as software encrypted.whats happening is the immobiliser is stopping it from starting when key is in start position cranking but it will go with a bump as starter motor key position not activated .try a wire from battery to small connector on starter motor .if it starts which i think it will then you know what to do ...old fashioned way with a push button.but are you getting prepared to lay the golden egg ???just in case
I have a 2000 Espace and for years it has suffered from a non-start problem. It can be fine for ages and then, suddenly, there's nothing when you turn the ignition, not even a click. All instruments light up. It's not the battery. Does this sound familiar?
In my case, time and time again it has been what they call the 'firewire' connection on to the starter - the connection becomes corroded over time and fails to pass sufficient voltage.
If the terminal becomes too badly burned, where the voltage has arced because of a poor connection, apparently the only solution is to fit a new starter motor. But so far, in my case, it's just needed a clean of the connector and terminal.
By the way, holding the ignition key in the ON position for some time (30 seconds or more) can sometimes cause it to fire up.
