LIGHTING Headlights REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Unscrew the Torx retaining screws and remove the headlight bezel.
  2. Remove the headlight bulb retaining screws. These are the screws which hold the retaining ring for the bulb to the front of the car. Do not touch the two headlight aiming screws, at the top and the side of the retaining ring (these screws will have different heads), or the headlight aim will have to be re-adjusted.
  3. Pull the bulb and ring forward, then separate them. Unplug the electrical connector from the rear of the bulb.
  4. Plug the new bulb into the electrical connector. Install the bulb into the retaining ring and then install the ring and the bulb. Install the headlight beze

How too remoove driver side fender 2005 envoy

once you have removed the headlight assembly and remove the bolt behind the headlight assembly, continue locating the 10mm bolts attaching the fender along the top side, along the bottom in front and behind of the tire, open the drivers side front door, look into the opening between the door hinges and with a flashlight and a long extension on your ratchet you will then remove the two bolts between the fender and door, one on top and one at the bottom. you also have to remove the retaining bolts that attach the inner fender liner to the fender.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE ASSEMBLY ON THE OLDS 95 SO I CAN CHAGNE THE LIGHTS.. I REMOVED TWO SCRES IN THE FRONT BU IT DOES NOT HELP TO REMOVE THE ASSEMBLY

Step 1:
Be sure the ignition key is not in the ignition, and the headlight switch is in the "Off" position.

Step 2:
Locate and remove the two headlight assembly screws on the top rail of the headlight assembly. Use the nut driver to remove them.

Step 3:
Place a rag between the headlight assembly and the bumper to protect the paint.

Step 4:
Wrangle the assembly outward. There is a guide pin behind the assembly on the fender side that holds it in place. This needs to be popped out of its socket in order to remove the headlight assembly. Pull slightly outward from the side, then forward and away from the car.

Step 5:
Locate the correct bulb socket (high-beam/low-beam). Disconnect the wire connector using the flathead screwdriver.

Step 6:
Turn the socket 1/4-turn counterclockwise to remove the socket from the headlight assembly. Remove the old bulb.

Step 7:
Insert the new bulb into the headlight assembly, and turn clockwise to lock into place. Be careful not to touch the glass bulb of the new socket. This could degrade headlight performance.

Step 8:
Reconnect the wire connector to the bulb. Test the light before replacing the headlight assembly, then turn off the lights again.

Step 9:
Reinsert the headlight assembly, making sure to align the guide pin into the socket. Replace the screws and tighten.

Remove headlight assembly from a 2001 Dodge Ram

On the upper grill side of the headlight assy. there
should be 1 or 2 push pins that hold the seal on the
headlight assy to the front of the fender. Also check
for a guide/push pin on the inner top of the assy on
the outer fender side. That should be all there is to
hold the headlight in place. Hope this helps.

Cobalt 2005 ls headlight bulb replacement

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • 9007 LL halogen headlight bulb
  • Wrench
  • Gloves or clean rag
  1. Step 1 Set the parking brake and remove the keys from the ignition to ensure your Chevy Cobalt won't roll while you're replacing the headlight bulb.
  2. Step 2 Open the hood by pulling the hood release latch located under the instrument panel on the driver's side of the car. Locate the secondary release latch on the front of the hood at the center, slightly towards the driver's side. Slide the latch to the left to release the hood and raise it.
  3. Step 3 Locate the headlight assembly and remove the bolts by turning them counterclockwise. Set the bolts aside in a safe place, so you won't misplace them.
  4. Step 4 Remove the plastic fasteners from the headlight assembly molding. Carefully pull back the front fascia, or molding. You may need an extra pair of hands to perform this slightly awkward task.
  5. Step 5 Grab the headlight assembly and pull it towards the radiator at a slight angle to remove it. This should provide easier access to the headlight bulb and wiring harness.
  6. Step 6 Lift the plastic locking tab on the wiring harness to disconnect the bulb base. Then, disconnect the wiring harness from the bulb socket and remove the black retainer by turning it counterclockwise.
  7. Step 7 Disconnect the bulb socket by turning it counterclockwise. Remove the old bulb from the socket by firmly, but gently pulling it straight out.
  8. Step 8 Replace the old bulb with a new 9007 LL halogen headlight bulb. Put your headlight assembly back together by reversing the steps when you disassembled it. Use 89 inch-lb torque when retightening the headlight assembly

I need to change the headlight bulb on the drivers side of my 1999 beetle

Here are 10 easy steps!
1. Ok, pop the hood. 2. Now look down into the front corner of the engine compartment to where the headlight is. You will see a black assembly tucked up in the fender. Yes you can access the inner fender from the engine compartment. The whole headlight assembly is close to 8" long. Since the driver side light is more interesting we will do that one. Yes you can get the drivers die headlamp out without touching the battery. You can replace driver's side low beam lamp without removing the battery. Before trying to do the next step of the black lever you must release the metal clamp flip the small coat hanger looking shaped like an M up this releases the metal strap around the headlight assembly bucket now prees the button next to the lever the button has a crosshatch design on the small button about a half inch by quarter inch. You must find the button if you try to move the black lever up without pusing in the small button you will break the lever and then you will be off to VW to buy a new headlight bucket asembly. In '99 Beetle there is a lever that sticks out of the headlamp assembly shield. Lifting up on the lever rotates a ring that unlocks two posts on the headlamp assembly. It can now slide straight out of the fender. The assembly rides on three tracks left side, right side and bottom.)
3. There is a black metal strap and clasp around the assembly with a metal clip on it. The clip flips back and opens up. There is also a black plastic lever sticking out of the assembly.
Next the clasp and metal strap you will notice the lever that expels the light assembly. It will be curved indicating that you pull up on it. As you do so the lever slides you will see the headlight start to come out of the fender.
4. Once the lever is up as far as it can go you can pull the headlight assembly out of the front of the fender carefully. This was a bit messy since the caulking on our 98 was starting to go and the dealership had put some goo around it to stop leaks I think. The light assembly in our case did take some coaxing to get it to slide out and we had to play with it for a while, but it did finally come out.
5. On the back you unplug the wires.
6. There is a plastic cap that comes off and you can access the headlight bulbs
7. After the housing is off, you will notice the lamp connector. There is a spring or hasp that keeps the lamp in the housing.
8. Change the low beam lamp (the one on the top of the assembly), so once the clip was removed the lamp can be pulled out of the assembly..
9. Once the lamp is pulled out you are almost done. The lamp is connected to the wires with a blade type connector. Just wiggle it from side to side to remove it. Take the new bulb (DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS ON THE NEW LAMP, if you do it will be ruined and you will be replacing it shortly). Once you placed the new lamp in, you can follow the instructions in the reverse order to put things back together.
10. When you are totally done, before you hook the battery back up and totally button things up, try the new light out quickly to make sure its working. All done.
