My Palm Lifedrive handheld is frozen and if i put in my password,it will not register as i tap the screen.Can i get help?

Hi you should update the software of the Palm Lifedrive Handheld you can got to manufacturer website and download the software.

Palm life drive frozen on "palm one "screen

When you see the first screen (the orange one) hold the UP button as the bar moves across the bottom of the screen. Let go right before the screen goes to the silver logo. If it continues and opens Prefs, then you need to delete the program causing it to reboot. If that doesn't work, do a Hard Reset. A Hard Reset will erase everything on your lifedrive, so only do it if you have to. Hold the Power Button while you push the reset button. Continue with the instructions to finish erasing your device.

My lifedrive seems to have developed a mind of its own. Calibration is off and it just randomly clicks on items and goes to the program associated with it.

That can be from a couple of things. If you have a screen protector on try taking it off. Also check for crud under the buttons. I've had it caused by both. The screen protector was perfectly in place and this stopped the instant I pulled it off.

It is possible it is a fault in the digitzer hardware but that is quite uncommon and requires replacement.

Palm lifedrive wont' boot stuck on palm screen

This sounds like the issue where the LifeDrive is stuck in a loop. You can see how to break the device out of the system loop on the Palm Knowledge Base article (26419) located HERE.

Palm lifedrive frozen 'secure erase'

You may be experiecing failure of the microdrive. Those are typical of it failing or having failed.

Having said that have your tried the hard reset buy holding the 5 way down while sliding the power switch? This is slightly different than the older secure but you need the update 2 to have it. This will erase and reformat and reload the entire system a bit more thouroughly than the older secure erase.
It might get you out of the cycle which is more important.

After you do a hard reset, try naming the palm something other than what the name was before hand and see if that profile works.

THE PROBLEM
LD reset tries to 'reboot' but never gets beyond the opening screens - stops - there -- frozen. It never succeeds. Unit is quite warm in the middle of the back panel. Must charge battery and, then to shutoff must run down the charge . Battery seems OK.

Sounds like the internal harddrive failed you can purchase a new one from pdaparts,com...theres two different flavors the standard cf or the usual harddrive i went for the cf less battery drain that way
