Was driving. Stopped at red light, lost ALL POWER.

I have a 97 monte carlo with 60,000 miles. the car has been well maintained but nonetheless is not running. i went to a friends approx 100 miles away. the car rode great - no idiot lites, no problems. got up the next day to leave, drove 3 1/2 blocks and stopped at a red lite and went to go but the car was dead. no power at all. no idiot lites, nothing only a click click click when you try to turn it over, then after a while no click click click - just silence. i am basically lost cause i have no clue n my car is 100 miles away. i would appreciate any help.
